Horseback riding tour through world's largest dry forest visiting the archeological complex, the pyramids of Lord of Sican/Batangrande (Lambayeuqe-Culture).

You will ride on our typical Peruvian Pasohorses. This horse is the smoothest riding horse in the world. Its endurance and willingness to work, not to mention its extremely comfortable gait, makes hours in the saddle pure pleasure. The Peruvian Paso Horse is considered Cultural Heritage of Peru.

What To Expect

We will ride along sugarcane, corn- and ricefields to the Pomac Forest until we reach to the archeological complex of the Lambayeque Culture, "the Goldpyramid" The Sanctuary was created on 01 June 2001 to conserve the cultural and scenic zone made up of the forest of Pómac and the archaeological complex of Sicán. It covers an area of 5,887.38 hectares at an altitude of between 80 and 300 masl. The site contains 36 pyramids from the pre-Inca culture of Sicán, and it was here that the tomb of the Lord of Sican was discovered: a lavish burial with beautiful artifacts made of gold and other metals. It is now possible to visit the archeological complex where the famous ceremonial knives known as Tumi were found. Pómac forest is a habitat for many species typically found in dry woods, especially birds of many kinds, some of which are endemic. It is an important spot for bird-watchers. The Sanctuary also contains an ancient tree: an enormous carob with a bizarre shape, over 4 centuries old.

Rancho Santana was amazing! The horses, typical Peruvian Pasohorses, are well cared for and looked after. Manuel is an amazing guide, very knowledgeable about the landscape and archeological Pre-Inca sites. The trek is a good length and the horses are so willing to walk and the smoothest horses we have ever ridden. A peaceful ride through a beautiful forest visiting interesting pyramids of one of the largest archeological sites of "Old Peru" We highly recommend it.

We did stay at Rancho Santana already for the second time and did enjoy the time there a lot again. it is such a peaceful place. Their horses are superr soft and easy to ride and make even un inexperienced rider feel comfortable. Highly recomended

I stayed at this beautiful farm and I spent two relaxing weeks riding and relaxing. I highly recommend this great place! The horseback riding tour was excelent, I have learnt how to ride a typical Peruvian Paso horse as well a lot about Peruvian Culrure and about the Pre inca period, riding through world's largest dry forest visiting the Pyramids of Lord of Sican, Lambayegue Culture.
