The Grand Canyon Rim Hike is one of the best hikes in Yellowstone National Park. This hiking tour is a loop. Your tour guide will watch for bears and answer your questions along the way.
Not only do we hike along the Rim of the Canyon, but also through the forest to lakes, mud pots, and meadows.
Your guide knows the trail and trail junctions, where many hikers get confused. Your guide also knows the good spots to stop for photos, resting, and lunch with a view.
Not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries
Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health
Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone
Your expert guide will meet you at the Pavilion next to the Upper Falls Parking Area at 8AM. The hike is a 4 to 6-mile loop. The hike is along the Canyon Rim, then through the endless pine forest out to Ribbon Lake. After that, we pass a thermal basin, Clear Lake, and the Hayden Valley. If you hike one trail in Yellowstone this should be it!
Upper Falls
We begin our hike seeing the Yellowstone's Upper Falls. This is the beginning of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River.

Our guide Rory was great. She was very knowledgeable of the area and made sure we had a good experience. She was also great with our 10 and 8 year old. We would definitely do it again.

Great hike with our guide Rory! I was with a group from the east coast Connecticut, Maryland and Florida. I like to get out off the beaten path, and take in the beauty of nature, I highly recommend this tour guide , everything is taken care of just brought water and a backpack , we got out into the canyon, through the tent pole pines , Yellowstone river mud pots and the open prairie . Rory was very knowledgeable about everything through out the 6 mile hike . Made my day!

Amazing hike along the rim, in the woods, and through fields. Conor and Maddy are great guides. Knowledgeable, funny, and just really nice people. Highly recommend for all abilities.

Great hike. Lunch and snacks were supplied. Hikers that did not have equipment were given poles, etc. Bear spray was supplied too. Hike was good, Emily Jo, our guide, was very informative! I would recommend this hike. My only complaint is the pace was too brisk for older individuals in their late 60’s. The trail was not difficult, the pace was too fast.

Enjoyed the hike very much! We had bagged lunch, snacks and water. If hikers did not have equipment that was supplied too. The views were beautiful, and the hike was good. Only issue is the guide went too fast for people in their 60’s. We finished a half hour earlier than the scheduled end time. Guides should read the room and adjust pace accordingly.

This Yellowstone Canyon Rim Guides hike was fantastic. It was exactly what we hoped it would be - exploring Yellowstone away from the crowds. Ron was a knowledgeable & fun guide. He was very attentive to our hiking abilities, things we were interested in seeing & the safety of our surroundings. The lunch & snacks that were provided were very satisfying. There was a bit of confusion in the meet up for the hike but a phone call to Yellowstone Hiking Guides helped us meet up with Ron. We would highly recommend a guided hike to see Yellowstone beyond the tourist hot spots.

We had a great experience on this tour! Our guide, Bob, was incredibly knowledgeable, experienced, and well-prepared. He has encyclopedia-like knowledge of the park, trees, flowers, animals and geothermal features. And provided a lot of helpful information about how to stay safe in the park. The hike was perfect - extremely scenic, enough of a workout without being too strenuous to enjoy, and involving a variety of beautiful landscapes in different parts of the park. It was the right length from 8am to 2pm. We left tired and satisfied! Highly recommend.
