Finding ourselves with a few more days in Auckland due to changes to our travel plans in March we were keen to fit in as much as possible and this tour seemed to fit the bill. Firstly, one of the stops was at Devonport - chance to visit war tunnels and see big gun; secondly learn about Auckland and volcanoes; thirdly cost; and fourthly collection from our hotel. And so it was that we spent a very pleasant afternoon in the company of our guide, Jerome. (Absolutely excellent; friendly, knowledgeable; informative). With only five of us on the tour it was virtually a private one. This did mean that we probably had a much more personal experience rather than if there had been a bigger group. One of the highlights for me was the walk along the shore (after learning so much about volcanoes etc) to the meeting spot at the cafe which serves the best ever ice cream. Torn between manuka honey and liquorice I opted for the unusual liquorice which was very subtle and not overwhelming. The tunnels themselves were fascinating, especially the big gun. Quite some sight. The tour finished off at a spot taking in the views of Auckland amongst some very expensive properties. All in all it was a really delightful way to spend a Monday afternoon, delivering all that it set out to do.

This tour I booked at the last minute and was the only one but Jerome- our guide took complete details of every location and explained with utmost sincerity He is very knowledgable and sincere with his efforts. Makes the story come alive ( especially the fort across in Devonport ) which has so much history attached to it. The tour is very well organised and I highly recommend it if you have time in the afternoon You will like rhe formations of volcanic rocks — and some secrets which Jerome will share when you book !

Fun way to see things outside the city center. Our guide, Jerome Corbett, was personable and informative. We made several stops to see lake, volcanic and sand beaches, hilltops of military remnants and great harbor views, beautiful coastal houses and city of Devonport. Our favorite stop was ice cream shop near park and beach! Best ice cream.

Mike offers a great tour. It was an engaging and informative afternoon. He took us to several sites and a few were “local spots” where most tourists are not visiting. Mike shared all kinds of history and information about the sites we visited. It was wonderful to be with only 5 people on the tour. Toward the end of the trip we stopped by an ice cream shop that has won awards for its products and enjoyed a Bay area where locals were jet skiing and enjoying a day at the beach. If you have any interest in volcanoes and natural history you will enjoy this tour. Mike is a genuinely nice guy and will tailor the trip to your interests.

Great to be picked up and dropped off at our hotel. Great tour with very knowledgable guide who didn’t rush anywhere on the numerous stops us as we are elderly.

Enjoyed the volcano beach area the best. It was interesting seeing the black rocks. The WW I tunnel was unique with the huge cannon.

It’s is a genuinely unique tour of Auckland! Jerome was very knowledgeable about the city and its history, and brought us to places we wouldn’t have seen on our own or on a cruise tour. We were a large group of 8 with different physical abilities and Jerome ensured we were aware of the conditions of each place and accommodated those needs, and never rushed us. . We all enjoyed the tour and agreed we would highly recommend it!!!

My friend and I had a lovely afternoon on this scenic and informative small-group tour with our wonderful guide, Jerome. He was warm, enthusiastic and knowledgable, and did a great job of personalising the tour and answering our many questions thoughtfully. The tour had a relaxed pace and was a great way to see some parts of Auckland that we otherwise wouldn’t have made it to, and to learn about them from a local’s perspective. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a tour with Jerome! Thank you!
