With a local born and raised in Bilbao come discover a beautiful city and the amazing Basque cuisine on our 3-hour ‘pintxos’ (Basque tapas) tour of Bilbao. Experience the 700 year old streets of the Old Town with a professional local 100% Basque guide who is an expert in the Bilbao culinary scene. We will visit 5 bars and sample pintxo styles ranging from traditional to modern. Your guide will pair each tasting with an excellent wine that compliments the pintxo. Wines that we recommend include red wine from La Rioja, Txakoli (a lightly sparkling white wine from the Basque Coast), and more!

What To Expect
Casco Viejo
-We will do as the Basques do! A bar hopping tour of Bilbao. We (the Basque people!) demonstrate our love of gastronomy with these tasty little bar snacks. -We will try the special pintxos, the ones you don't see on the bars! I will order them for you and the chef will make them instantly for you. -We are going to sample the traditional pintxos and also others that have been given AWARDS in the famous pintxo competitions. You will experience all Bilbao has to offer on this tour with stops at very modern bars, and also stops at some of the oldest bars in the city! -I will teach you how to order pintxos. After my tour you will have the confidence to go in any bar in the city! -I pair the pintxos with a wine most suitable to type of food we are experiencing. We will sample red and white wine, cider, and other drinks on this tour. -I know the best bars in my city and what to order as I was born and raised in Bilbao!

5.00Today was the hottest day ever in Bilbao, Irene our guide looked after us well making sure we went on shady streets and had lots of water.... it was 42C on street signs. So glad we went, Irene was so passionate about the food and the wine and all things Basque. The pintxos were absolutely delicious and paired with some wonderful wines and local cider. We visited places we wouldn't have found on our own. A lot of the Pintxos chefs were award winning. It was our first time doing a food tour and was well worth it. As a guide she was great fun.

5.00Great Food Tour with a great tour guide. I would do this food tour again in a heart beat, it was that good. The variety of food that we were able to sample were so delicious and uniquely Basque. Irene's passion about food is only paralleled by her pride of being Basque. We absolutely love this food tour.

5.00We had a great food and wine tour in old town Bilbao. It was very hot but Leire, our guide, kept cool and did a fantastic job, entertaining and informative. The pintxos were many and varied and delicious and the wine and cider pairings excellent. Highly recommended tour and guide

It’s genuinely one of the best ways to experience the city and its food culture. Our host, Leire, was exceptionally friendly and an outstanding source of local knowledge, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. 5.00We absolutely loved our Bilbao food tour. Olaia was an incredible guide. She gave us such a great introduction to Basque history and culture and the wonderful world of pintxos. Not to mention the outstanding local wine and cider! We had so much fun and would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Bilbao!

5.00My husband and I went on a tour with Irene - pintxo queen! We enjoyed cider and wine pairing with food. Irene carefully selected the drinks, shared history of Bilbao and made the experience fun and very enjoyable! Alternatively one can try beer or other drinks. I loved the atmosphere in each bar and the food was amazing! Irene also gave excellent suggestions for additional things to do and see in the area.
