The Corinth Canal connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island.
Ancient Corinth (Archaia Korinthos)
OPTIONAL: Ancient Corinth was inhabited in the Neolithic period (6500-3250 BC) but the big prosperity begins in the 8th century. Corinth was a city-state on the Isthmus (canal) of Corinth, the narrow stretch of land that joins the Peloponnese to the mainland of Greece, roughly halfway between Athens and Sparta.

Tyros
Instead of taking the motorway route to Monemvasia, we'll enjoy the beautiful coastline after leaving Nafplio and then climb the mountain range of Parnon; with Greek coffee by the water and lunch at a mountain village. Our first break/stop. We'll enjoy a coffee next to the ocean before climbing up the mountain range of Parnon.
Leonidio
Leonidio is as impressive as any town in Greece with its Dafonas Gorge in between the red rock-climbing Parnon mountain. Famous to all Greeks for the sweet eggplant/aubergine.
Monastery Panagias Elonis
A quick stop at the cliff-hanging monastery of Elona. Amazing views of the red mountain rocks.
Kosmas
Kosmas is a small village in the mountains of Arkadia on Mount Parnon at the east coast of the Peloponessos. Surrounded by forests of chestnut trees and pine, it is high enough for there to be a difference in temperature of ten or more degrees from all other places. Our authentic lunch place under the huge plain trees of the traditional main square of the town.
Monemvasia Castle
The Castle Town of Monemvasia is among the most impressive places in Greece. Located on the south eastern side of Peloponnese, Monemvasia was entirely carved on the back side of a sea rock in the Medieval times.

THE MYTHICAL 'CAVE OF THE LAKES' has something exclusively unique that does not exist in other well-known caves. A rare creation of nature with mysterious galleries and strange stalactite formations.

Kalavrita and the surrounding area are a resort for all seasons. This is your lunch place! We explore the center of the town on foot before or after lunch.
Odontotos Rack Railway
About 120 years ago, the Odontotos rack railway started from the seaside town of Diakopto, parallel to the river, and climbed to Kalavrita through bridges and tunnels. No accommodation is provided since we return to Athens. The little train incorporated so well into the natural environment that it seemed that it had always been there. The way it was constructed did not put a strain on the ecosystem of the gorge. Using stone and wood from the area the technicians' work is so perfect that someone may think that the nature worked on its own.

My wife and I did a 6 day tour of the Peloponnese which included a day on Hydra Island and we highly recommend Eudaimonia Private Tours. The tour itinerary is well thought out and provides visitors with an in-depth travel experience covering the regions history, archeology, culture, food and diverse geography. Being a relatively small tour company allows for a highly personal tour experience. Nicos was excellent to work with throughout the initial contact, planning and monitoring of our trip. For example he recommended spending a few days in Nafplio, rather than Athens, to recover from the long flight from western Canada. Nafplio is a wonderful place to visit. Nico also provided a private airport pickup which timing had to be changed at the last minute because of a missed flight connection in Paris and was regularly checking in with our driver and tour guide, Theo. Theo met us at the Athens airport with a warm smile and a clean comfortable car. Theo is an outstanding guide and driver. His dedication to service is second to none, which when combined with his archeological and historical knowledge of Greece, provides a wonderful tour experience. A few examples of Theo’s dedication to service. Before our arrival in Athens Theo contacted the hotel we had separately reserved in Nafplio for the days prior to our tour. The hotel did not have our reservation. Theo had the glitch resolved for us before our late arrival at the hotel. Theo went out of his way to make each day of our tour enjoyable, comfortable and specially matched to our personal interests and preferences. A daily highlight of our tour was having lunch at a small local restaurant. Theo would do all the ordering for us knowing our food likes and dislikes and ensured that over the tour we experienced a broad selection of the Greek cuisine. Theo also was excellent in communicating with the restaurant chefs to accommodate my wife’s multiple food allergies which eliminated the stress of eating out in a foreign country. In total we spent 17 days in Greece also seeing Athens and cruising the Greek Islands. For us the highlight of the trip was the Eudaimonia Peloponnese tour, and the stars were Nicos and Theo. Thank you both for a great trip. Ken and Gloria, Calgary, Canada

Just returned from visiting Greece, starting with a 5 Day Private Tour of the Peloponnese with Eudaimonia Private Tours. I am being completely honest when I say it was one of the most enjoyable vacations I have ever had, in large part because of our experience with our guide, Panayiotis. He has a gift when it comes to reading his audience and it was from the very start at our airport pick-up first thing in the morning, that his professionalism and good-natured personality began to shine. As we were a party of 2, one can imagine we were probably all wondering how the next 5 days might unfold, but in this instance any concerns were quickly dismissed. By the end of the tour, we had shared so many stories and laughs that saying goodbye was like leaving a good friend. We took in many sites and sights during those 5 days from the ocean to the mountains; stayed in beautiful accommodations, met many wonderful people, and enjoyed terrific meals. If you are planning a trip to Greece, you would be missing out if you did not consider Eudaimonia Private Tours for a unique, and authentic travel adventure.

My husband and I recently returned from a wonderful trip to Greece that started off exceptionally well due to the expertise of Eudamonia Private Tours. Our 5-day tour of the Peloponnese was thoughtfully organized by Nikos, and executed to perfection by our guide, Panayiotis. We visited so many amazing locations with breath-taking views, immersed ourselves in the richness of ancient history, met many welcoming people and sampled fabulous food, all the time feeling fully cared for. The tour was like traveling with an old friend, proud to share their heritage with first time visitors eager to soak it all in. We thoroughly enjoyed this authentic experience as Panayiotis was not only knowledgeable and flexible with the full itinerary, but he was also conscientious, kind, and considerate, raising the bar beyond our expectations. With so many laughs along the way, our 5-day private tour was the highlight of our 14-day trip. I would recommend this private tour without any reservations. Communication with the company was seamless from start to finish. Their website provides an excellent overview of the tour, but surely you will be most impressed with your personalized experience.

This tour was the highlight of our 5 week European holiday. It was made so special by our guide Theo who is a young archeologist. He was so knowledgeable in the history, customs and cuisine of all the areas we visited. He was kind and considerate and always paid attention to our welfare. The 5 nights accommodation was excellent and varied and we actually stayed in a Castle on my husband’s birthday. Breakfasts were always top class with a great variety of local food. Lunch was also provided and Theo was able to select many exquisite dishes according to our individual tastes, accompanied by fine wine. The landscapes we passed through were spectacular and we visited many local attractions and ancient sites. Our favourite site was Olympia and our favourite village was Dimitsana where we stayed in a guesthouse overlooking the mountains. Theo was an excellent driver and was always considerate of our comfort and safety. This was the best holiday we have ever had and we recommend it most highly.

I wanted to share how much I enjoyed my recent trip to Greece and this was one of the highlights of my trip. I found it to be excellent value for money; everything was so well-organized, allowing me to simply relax and enjoy the experience. The accommodations were first-class, and my tour guide Panayiotis, was outstanding. He was incredibly knowledgeable, responsible, respectful and an absolute pleasure to spend time with. I especially appreciated his recommendations for authentic Greek cuisine. When he offered to order for me I always accepted, which allowed me to discover delicious dishes I might not have tried. The tour itself was fantastic, taking me through beautiful coastal towns, up into the mountains, and to many other sites in between. My only regret is not booking the longer tour, but now I have the perfect excuse to return. Thank you so much for making my trip to Greece so memorable.

My husband and I completed this tour in October 2024. We opted for an additional night in Nafplio and added a day on Hydra Island. If you don’t want to read the details below, just know this tour and tour company were EXCELLENT and great value for the $. It is a busy itinerary but Eudaimonia will accommodate changes and we saw so much! All the accommodations and food superb. Highly recommend! Our amazing driver/guide, Panayiotis picked us up promptly from our hotel in Piraeus in a comfortable, clean vehicle and off we went on our adventure! After stopping at Corinth Canal we went on a winery tour in the Namea region. All the wines were delicious and our tour guide was fun and knowledgeable. Nafplio, touring the Palamedi Fortress and Epidaurus finished out the day. It was a great start! We had 2 nights in a comfortable one bed apartment with fantastic breakfasts. The next morning, we took the ferry to Hydra and the add on was so worth it! Panayiotis recommended a place to swim, have lunch and it was magical. We even took the mule taxi to watch the sunset. The next day we took the long, scenic, coastal drive to Monemvasia. Stopped at a seaside taverna for Freddo Cappuccino and conversation with our driver guide. Along the way was a 15th century monastery built into a cliff! We then made our way to the 6th century castle in Monemvasia. We wish we stayed another night in this hotel, it was so unique! Next was the Mani Peninsula, Diros Caves, Areopoli for lunch and to the Mystras Castle/Sparta. Bring a good walking stick to navigate here! Stayed in the lovely Mystras Grand Palace Resort and this was another place we could have spent another night or longer. The resort was really quiet since it was early Oct. and we loved it. Next day was Olympia and what an amazing site to see. We spent the whole day in the ruins and museum. It was incredible. Then through the mountains to a cliff side village Dimitsana for an amazing, authentic Greek meal and more spectacular accommodations. Our last day we toured the Cave by the Lakes and took the cog train/Odontotos Rack Railway, Kalavryta, before heading back to Athens.

My experience with the 5-Day Best of Peloponnese Private Tour with Nikos was phenomenal. This tour is an excellent way to explore the history and breathtaking landscapes of the Peloponnese region. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made the trip enjoyable and engaging. Mycenae: The archaeological site of Mycenae was particularly captivating. The Lion's Gate and the tomb of Agamemnon were impressive. Nafplio: Nafplio was charming with its narrow streets, Venetian architecture, and vibrant atmosphere. The Palamidi Fortress offered breathtaking views of the town. Olympia: Visiting Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games, was fascinating despite the heat. The ancient ruins and the museum provided deep insights into the origins of the games. Epidaurus: The theater of Epidaurus, renowned for its perfect acoustics, was amazing. Monemvasia: The Byzantine fortress town of Monemvasia was a journey back in time. The narrow, cobbled streets and well-preserved medieval buildings offered a unique atmosphere. The view from the top over the sea was spectacular and unique. I definitely want to visit this beautiful place again. Diros Caves: The Diros Caves were an impressive natural wonder. The underground boat ride through the caves, with their spectacular stalactites and stalagmites, was an unforgettable experience and lasted almost half an hour, which was great. The second dripstone cave we saw a few days later was also impressive and full of bats. Accommodations: The accommodations were exceptionally beautiful and luxurious. We felt incredibly comfortable and well taken care of. The rooms were elegantly furnished, providing a perfect blend of comfort and style. The hospitality was outstanding, making our stay even more enjoyable. Service: The service throughout the tour was excellent. Our driver Nikos was punctual, knowledgeable, polite, and accommodated all our special requests and concerns. Nikos was passionate about sharing his extensive knowledge of Greek history and culture, enriching each visit. Overall, we enjoyed our interactions with Nikos, finding them interesting and fun. We parted as friends. This tour is an ideal way to explore the historical wonders and natural beauty of the Peloponnese. The well-organized itinerary, luxurious accommodations, excellent food, and outstanding service made it an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to experience the best of the Peloponnese in a comprehensive and comfortable manner.

I struggled to find long Tours of the western area of Greece, and this was exactly what I was looking for! We hit so many iconic spots, including the ruins of Olympia and the Cave of Lakes. Every hotel was perfect, and we let Panayiotis (our guide and driver) pick our food for lunch every day and he did not disappoint! This trip was well worth it, and I highly recommend it!

10/10, 100% recommend. I have been to Greece numerous times, including living in Greece for a year, and it was my 16 year old son's first trip. We both thoroughly enjoyed this tour. I speak and read enough Greek to feel comfortable driving, so I had considered renting a car and arranging everything on my own as on previous trips. However, due to the short time frame for our trip, I opted to trust Eudaimonia, and I was very happy with that choice. Nikos and Panayiotis are amazing. Working with Nikos via email and telephone prior to our arrival, we were able to customize a tour combining my son's "first time to Greece must-see list" and some off the main path experiences that were new for me. Panayiotis, our tour leader/driver was amazing, especially with my son. Accommodations are very nice and clean. The included lunches were fantastic, including some adventurous off-the-menu items. Definitely go with the recommendations from your tour leader re: food, and also any recommendations for optimizing the itinerary each day. Ευχαριστούμε Παναγιώτη και Νίκο για το υπέροχο ταξίδι. Ελπίζουμε να σας δούμε ξανά σύντομα!
