5.00Our super friendly guide, Gorka, was extremely proud of his home country and we now know why. After 4 days with him and one day in the Rioja area with Mateo, we feel like we know Basque Country well now too. We loved the food, scenery and heritage. Gorka gave us such a great introduction into Pintxos bars that we felt comfortable ordering on our own. Cheesecake at La Vina is to die for. The seaside towns and mountain drives through the Highlands are a must.

5.00We booked this tour 4 months in advance and opted for the full 5 days of tours since we had the time and wanted the full experience. What an excellent decision. From our first contact with Iker, the owner, to meeting our guide, Gorka, everything went perfectly. We spent a day each in San Sebastián, Biarritz, Bilbao, Rioja Wine Country and the Highlands including the Basilica of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuits. We chose the Highlands vs. Pamplona and were blown away by the mountain scenery. We cannot say enough about Gorka. He was prompt, very personable and knowledgeable of each place we visited. Our guide for Rioja, Mateo, was also excellent. I would not hesitate to book them for whatever type and # of days you want.

5.00My brother highly recommended Iker from a prior trip to San Sebastian & the Basque Country. I can honestly state that planning our itinerary with Iker went smoothly, and he responsed in a timely manner. We ended up booking 5 tours with Basque Guides & all were fantastic. We did the Walking Tour of San Sebastian, Evening Food Tour, the Basque Countryside, Bilbao & the Guggenheim Museum, & the French Basque Coastline. Iker lead a couple of our tour and Mateo and Alvaro led the others. All were wonderful & Iker checked back with us each day to make sure that we enjoyed each tour. We ate well, enjoyed seeing the local markets, saw beautiful scenery, & learned about the culture, language and history of the country. I'd recommend San Sebastian & Basque Guides in a heartbeat! ScaryCostco, Iker (and if you want to know what that means you will have to go & find out for yourselves!)

5.00My family and I have nothing but great things to say about our experience with Basque Guides (5 day tour)! Our group of 6 ranged in age from 44 - 82. Juan was our guide for 4 days (San Sebastián, French Basque Country, Bilbao, La Rioja), and Martin was our guide for our final tour in Pamplona. Here of the highlights of why we loved the tour so much: Guides - these gentlemen clearly love their jobs and focused on educating us about the true Basque Country, rather than taking us to stupid tourist traps. Juan has advanced degrees in food & wine, while Martin has a degree in anthropology. They were a wealth of knowledge! We especially enjoyed hearing funny stories about Juan's "extremely Basque" mother! We saw tons of things each day, yet never felt rushed. The guides were very good about tailoring the pace of the tour to the group. Food - 5 stars. Phenomenally delicious. Nothing touristy. We are still talking about the lamb chuletas we ate in La Rioja. The pintxos we ate in San Sebastián were incredible. Transportation - Excellent. Clean and well-maintained Mercedes-Benz vans. Drivers were very safe. Itinerary - every day offered something new and a different view of the Basque Country. We also noticed that the tour alternated between more "active" days and more relaxing days, which worked well for the more senior members of our group. We were also able to meet Iker, the owner, who was an absolute delight and gave us a great recommendation for dinner in San Sebastián. I would love to return to the Basque Country and will definitely give Iker a call when we are ready for more tours!

5.00I found Iker's company online by using Google. The reviews always, in my opinion, give me the best information. And his company had rave reviews, which I can certainly agree with, and add to. This was my first trip to the Basque region so I chose the 5 day private tour. I know that I'll be back but this gave me a great overview of this incredibly beautiful and diverse region. At times it took my breath away. Iker is Basque and speaks the language fluently. He is passionate about his culture and extremely knowledgeable about Basque history, culture, politics, the economy... everything. In addition he is energetic, accommodating, timely, interesting, an all around great person. I have watched quite a few travel videos taken in the Basque region, but nothing compares to actually being there. And I could not have found a better guide!

5.00Words can’t describe what an AMAZING experience my family had with Basque tours. It will go down as one of our best family vacations. Everyday was thoughtfully planned. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and great with kids. Everyday was a new adventure with 5 star service.
