Experience the magic of Norway with the locals! Join our expert guide on an exhilarating hike to the awe-inspiring "Himakånå." This exclusive adventure accommodates normally 15 guests and a maximum of 24 guests.
The journey starts at the cruise terminal, with a comfortable bus or car ride to Nedstrand, a fjord-side village. Your guide narrates the history of Haugalandet during the one-hour journey.
Upon arrival, we pick up a light Norwegian lunch, or "Matpakke," from a local store before the 2.2 km hike to Himakånå, 357 meters above sea level. The trail is steep but manageable, taking about an hour each way.
At the summit, capture breathtaking panoramic views and enjoy your "Matpakke." Himakånå is one of Norway's popular "selfie spots." Then, we descend to Nedstrand.

WOW - Stunning views when you finally get to the top! The hike is very steep and you should be in decent shape to take this on. When we started I thought this will level out at some point - Nope! But man, when you get to the top, it is so beautiful and peaceful. For the hike you can go your own pace so don't have to stick with the group. They also stop and get you lunch (and bottle water provided) (basically 3 different 1/2 sandwiches to try) that you can enjoy at the top with the views. This was a wonderful experience to do while we were in town on cruise port stop. Drive to get there was about 50 mins. I asked if they could drop us off in town (verses going back to ship) and they were happy to do so, that way we were able to check out a few shops before we had to walk back to ship (wasn't a close port).

I am not an expert and normally hike about 2 times a month. For me, hiking shoes and polls were essential. The view was breathtaking!

We had a fantastic experience on this hike. The group was a little larger than anticipated, with several buses meeting at the refreshment stop, but ultimately each group spread out along the trail and there were certainly no crowds. Two of us had ordered gluten free meals, and been assured that wouldn't have been a problem. However, despite celiacs on the other buses receiving their meals, we did not get ours which was disappointing - though we never travel without snacks! A fantastic day, weather wise, meant we had stunning views the whole time we were hiking. Our guide was friendly, attentive and informative, and spent time with each member of the group, ensuring at all times that nobody was too far ahead or left behind. This was a fairly steep hike from the outset and requires a certain level of fitness (Norwegians are fitter than many North Americans) but was well worth it for the views. Other guides at the top were assisting with getting the best possible photos, which ours didn't do, but if we'd been solo travellers he may well have offered that service too.

Worthwhile trip that doesn’t take too much out of your day. Still a couple hours left to explore Haugesund before boarding the cruise. Although could have spent more time out on the top, beautiful views! The hike up is a little steep, so wear good shoes. The alternate route down the hill through the forest is a must! It starts right after the second gate on the way down. Potentially could have included it as part of the way up. Great job Howard!

Great chance to escape shopping and to go inland. Hike is steep, but short. Take your time - it is worth it

An excellent tour - really enjoyed Elizabeth's commentary on the journey there and back. Walk, although uphill, was an wide graveled paths and suitable to all with reasonable fitness. Fantastic views throughout and wonderful photos at the top. The picnic lunch was good too. Thoroughly recommend - nice to get away from the cruise ship herds! Small group size a bonus

Very friendly guide. The peak was spectacular. And we had extra time so the tour took us around town to points of interest.

The steep grades of the path were moderately challenging, but the view from the top was stunning and totally worth the effort. The gravel path made for an easy descent.

So much fun! Believe the description that it is a strenuous hike, but it's so worth it to get to the top and see the views! Our guides were great - very knowledgeable and made sure no one was getting left behind. Definitely recommend!
