You've been dreaming of your Tanzanian safari for so long, and the day when it begins has finally arrived. You will be met at Kilimanjaro International Airport and welcomed to Tanzania by a Samora Explorers Ltd staff member, We'll greet you, give you a quick rundown on what happens next and answer your questions. Then after that your guide will be driving to the Lodge where you will have the chance to relax and prepare for tomorrow's safari.

Tarangire National Park
In the morning, you will start your safari with a drive to the Tarangire National Park. The park is roughly the size of Luxemburg and covers an area of about 2,600sq km. Bush savannah, seasonal swamps, and giant baobab trees make up the landscape of this nature reserve and the park is probably one of the best places in East Africa to see elephants. From the open roof of the safari vehicle, you will be able to watch them and absorb the landscape. Apart from elephants, the park is also home to Masai giraffes, various gazelles, antelopes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, baboons, and more than 500 types of birds. After an extensive game drive, you will leave the park and drive to Karatu for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, you will make your way to Serengeti National Park for a full-day game drive (and picnic lunch). A million wildebeest, each one driven by the same ancient rhythm, fulfil their instinctive role in the inescapable cycle of life here. Serengeti has really special sights, sounds, and smells of Africa with stunning scenery, ever-changing light, and entertaining wildlife. In this park, the animals don’t walk to any schedule so we may find lions, leopards, elephants, zebras, cheetahs, antelopes, gazelles, hippos, and many species of birds and reptiles during our game drive. Here you might spend your day in the central park area or your guide will know where to take you according to the season (migration of the animals).

Ngorongoro Crater
After an early breakfast, you will enter the Ngorongoro Crater on a steep and narrow road. The slopes are forested, but the landscape changes to savannah dotted with the occasional acacia tree. The wildlife here is breathtaking and if you are lucky you might spot the Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard. The crater is also home to warthogs, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, hyenas, and many more. After a morning full of game viewing and a picnic lunch you will leave the crater in the afternoon and head to Karatu for an overnight stay. Some interesting facts about craters: The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest volcanic caldera, formed during the massive explosion of the volcano once higher than Kilimanjaro some 2 to 3 million years ago. The crater has a total area of 304 sq km, is 600 m deep, and has a diameter of 20 km.

Where the plains of northern Tanzania meet the Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara is a wonderful place to spend a safari day. Your highlights for the day might include getting up-close-and-personal with the elephants that made this park famous, lots of baboons, as well as one of few lion populations in Africa that spend much of their time in the trees. Between the forests at the foot of the escarpment and the lake that gives the park its name, enjoy rich birdlife and the chance of seeing predator ambush their prey. 5.00What an epic tour this was, we had the best time. Started with a relaxing stay at the Samora River lodge (just what we needed after a long flight). Each park was very different but my favourite was the endless plans (Serengeti). The trip was very well planned and executed perfectly. Our driver Emanuel was excellent and very informative. The planning of this trip was excellent from the start, and the communication with Iddy was fantastic. Thank you Samora Explorers, would highly recommend you to future travellers.

5.00We spent a 5 day Safari trip at Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro NP. It was very well organized by SE. Distances between destinations perfectly fitted into the schedule. The choice of accommodations reflected the variety of opportunities, e.g. Tented lodge in Serengeti. Our guide Reggi is a nice, attentive and absolutely reliable person. He drove us save and with adequate speed through the parks. He is speaking German as well as English. That we saw the big 5 and lots of other animals can of course not be guaranteed by SE, but on the other hand is not possible without a very good guide. We finally want to emphasize that SE is avoiding litter by a sustainable way of offering lunch (freshly cooked meals and no single use lunch boxes as much other companies do). We are even more than totally satisfied by our trip and can fully recommend SE. Finally we can also recommend starting the trip after the flight in the nice Samora River Lodge.
An Amazing safari that includes everything!strongly recommend it, our group of six Norwegians really enjoyed it.

5.00Strongly recommend this trip and Samora Explorers to anyone who would like to try Safari, we were so lucky, we felt we sw it all. Eight Rhinos, which was a record even for our great guide Emanuel. We saw multiple lions, cubs, and a couple mating. We saw two leopards in the same tree and unimagebale amount of other animals. Strongly recommend. Sites were all good, Harmony tented camp really impressed our group. Great food and super clean, looks brand new. Tousands of animals just outside our tent. Lunches were also good, alot of the other tours provided lunch boxes, however, we had «hot lunches». Samora also provides a new and nice lodge before the safari.

5.00This was an absolutely unforgettable honeymoon experience , a perfect way to celebrate! From start to finish everything felt thoughtfully planned out and incredibly special. Our tour guide Emanuel, was outstanding! Not only deeply knowledgeable about local geography and terrain but also full of fascinating historical facts and cultural information that truly enriched the experience. Each animal we saw our tour guide took the time explain their behaviours and unique characteristics. We learned so much! The only suggestion we would make is if tbere was a package offering a 4 or 5 day safari trip in the Serengeti. This was our favourite park and it felt a little rushed , due to time constraints. But if this was offered I. The future we would definitely go back again!

5.00We had an amazing time on the safari! Emanuel was our tour guide for our private safari and he was amazing throughout the trip. He gave really good information along the way, and was knowledgeable on the best routes to take. He was also very patient and great at taking photos! 10/10 would recommend. Samora was also great to deal with and made the planning so simple and easy. The only thing I would recommend for Samora in the future is to have a safari tour dedicated to just the Serengeti. The park is so large that to truly get the grasp of it, it would be nice to spend the entire tour just in the one park. Looking forward to more tours in the future with Samora!

5.00We highly recommend Samora Explorers to everyone. Initial communication via email was quick, smooth, and efficient. We received a quote quickly. We had the trip slightly modified to meet our needs, which was no problem at all. Upon arrival at the airport, the driver was already waiting for us. We received a warm welcome from the staff at the Samora Lodge in Arusha. There, we were able to recover from our overnight flight. The next day, our guide, Henry, was ready at 8:00 AM sharp. We'd join him on safari for the next six days. He's a friendly and professional guide with an eagle eye. Henry truly went above and beyond to show us as much as possible and was extremely patient while we were both taking photos (we're both amateur photographers). The accommodations during our stay were excellent, from beautiful lodges to incredibly cozy tented camps. The food (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) was also excellent. We enjoyed a wonderful safari and would book with Samora Explorers again. We highly recommend them to everyone. Tim and Laura - Netherlands

5.00We had the holiday of a lifetime made all the more special through the care taken in preparing our itinerary by Iddy and the kindness of Pesco our guide and driver who always went the extra mile to make sure that we were happy and got to see all that we could hope for. Iddy and the team are incredibly responsive and the whole trip went like clockwork for picking us up at Kilimanjaro airport to the drop off at Arusha airport. The accommodation was a great blend. All comfortable, quiet with lovely catering in the evening and hot packed lunches. We couldn’t believe just how many animals we saw and how close to the vehicle. The holiday exceeded all of our expectations. Very happy to recommend Samora Explorers

5.00Samora Explorers and our guide Henry Philemon Msemo gave us the trip of a lifetime! Every accommodation throughout our safari was really nice! Soft beds, good food on buffets for breakfast and dinner, and excellent service from warm, friendly, welcoming locals. Drinks with alcohol were not included but were reasonable at each location we stayed. Samora River Lodge, Suricata Boma Lodge, Into the Wild Africa tented camp, and Embalakai tented camp were the places included in our booking. Each was special in its own way. I especially loved Abeid and Daima at Samora River Lodge. They went above and beyond for us every day. All park entrances were included in our package and we visited Tarangire, Serengeti (2 days), Ngorongoro, & Lake Manyara. I think the most important and spectacular part of the trip was our guide - Henry Philemon Msemo. He worked hard and knew so much about the animals. His ability to spot was unreal! We saw more animals than we could count!!! And he always got us right in close without jeopardizing safety for the animals or us. The leopard was elusive and we didn’t get a sighting on this trip. We did have multiple sightings of the black rhino though! On another note- each day when we would pull in for lunch at the crowded picnic spots, I almost felt guilty for those with cold repetitive box lunches. Henry would pull out our hot 3 or 4 course meal each day complete with real silverware, wine, beer, and tablecloth. It was amazing!!! There were 3 adults in our group and the price by booking directly with Samora Explorers was very affordable compared to other options. I would highly recommend them to those interested in visiting Tanzania - but request Henry specifically as your guide.

Our Safari guide Reggie was outstanding, he knew where to go to spot the animals and was very patient with all of us. He is very friendly and kind and we highly recommend him.
