Naankuse Wildlife Sanctuary
We will drive out to the internationally known N/a’an ku se Wildlife Sanctuary. Located about 50 km to the east of Windhoek. N/a’an ku se is a sanctuary dedicated to the rehabilitation of sick, injured and orphaned animals. The ultimate focus is to reintroduce these sometimes rare and endangered species back into their natural habitat so that they can live life wild and free. Sadly though, in many cases, this is not possible. Some of the animals that come to N/a’an ku se would not, ever again, be able to fend for themselves in their native yet cruel natural environment. Instead, they take ‘’early retirement’’ and find themselves a permanent home at N/a’an ku se.

We have the whole day to explore Etosha and we want to make the most of it. The park gates open at sunrise and we aim to be on our way just as the sun breaches the horizon. Early morning is usually a productive time for game viewing and first thing in the morning is a good time to catch big cats returning from the hunt. Full day game driving in Etosha National Park. Departing Swakopmund in the mid-morning we head east into the desert. We first cross the Namib gravel plains, large areas of flat and seemingly barren terrain broken up by huge mountain inselbergs. We have two mountain passes to traverse this afternoon, first is the mighty Kuiseb Pass and we follow the road from the top of the mountains, dropping steeply down into the canyon carved over eons by the Kuiseb River on its way to debouch into the ocean at the port town of Walvis Bay.

Sunrise in the dunes is the name of the game this morning and that means a pre-dawn start and a very early breakfast. The best time to photograph the dunes is around sunrise and sunset. This is when you can see towering sand dunes illuminated a glowing orange, apricot red on one side and swathed in shadow on the other. The depth of field is amazing at this time of day.

Solitaire
Our last day today but excitement is still on the menu. We head back to Solitaire and join an open vehicle to visit one of their local conservation projects, in this case, cheetah. Solitaire is home to a number of cheetah that, for different reasons, are unable to be released back into the wild. for different reasons. This excursion allows us the chance to learn all about the cheetah, and the work done by local conservation projects, and also get some incredible photos of the world’s fastest land mammal. After the activity, we sample the apple pie that has made this homestead famous

I joined the Namibian Highlights Accommodated Safari with Chameleon Safaris, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. Our guide Gregory made the trip truly special. He was knowledgeable, professional, and passionate about Namibia. His calm attitude, sense of humor, and genuine care for everyone created a friendly and relaxed group atmosphere. Every destination - Etosha National Park, Swakopmund, and the Sossusvlei dunes - was breathtaking. The itinerary was perfectly balanced with morning game drives, scenic hikes, and comfortable lodges with great food. Chameleon Safaris was very well organized, with clear communication, safe transport, and excellent attention to detail. If you want to experience the real beauty of Namibia, I highly recommend this tour. Thank you, Gregory and Chameleon Safaris, for an unforgettable journey!

This was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Our tour driver, Chilo, was so kind and accommodating. While this tour is fast-paced, it was the perfect taste of an amazing country and led to some of the most memorable experiences of my life. Chameleon did a great job with helping accommodate a medical condition I had and went above and beyond each step of the way to make sure we felt comfortable. If you're considering this tour, just do it! It was one of the best travel experiences I've had to date (and I'm a 30-country girlie!). Highly recommend!

I can’t recommend Greg and Chameleon Safaris enough. I was hesitant to do a guided group tour as a solo traveler, not having done so for 18 years. However, my 7 day Namibian highlights tour (accommodated) far exceeded my expectations. The itinerary and the accommodation alone makes it worth the time and price, not to mention the fact that they take a maximum of 12 people (we were 3-6) However, our tour guide - Greg - made the experience even better. He was well informed, organized, funny, friendly, and also LGBTQ friendly. In a word, he is awesome! My only regret is that I didn’t have more time!

Great way to explore the highlights of Namibia. Kennedy was a great guide, attentive to our needs and ensuring everyone had a good time. Also, very knowledgeable and accommodating. The lodges were good, most included a pool which was more than welcome given the heat. Good food selection as well at the lodges. Note that most days have an early start, between 4:30 - 6:30, and lunches will be on the go but nevertheless that didn't take away from the experience.

What a week! The 7 day Namibian highlights tour is the perfect snapshot of this stunning country. You’re up early every day, and there is a lot of time spent driving in the mini van but it’s 100% worth it because you see and do so much; every day brings new experiences. It’s also very cool to see the landscape - and temperature! - change as you move through the country. I joined the tour as a solo traveller, and was fortunate to do the tour with some amazing people visiting from Germany, the UK and Norway. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend joining the tour if you’re travelling independently; you’ll see and learn more than you ever would alone - and it’s much more enjoyable to experience this country with others. Our guide, Gregory, was excellent. Professional, patient and good humoured, all whilst driving huge distances and casually whipping up delicious lunches on the road. It really adds to the experience to spend quality time with someone from Namibia as you travel through the country, learning as you go. I have great respect for the job that he and the whole Chameleon team undertake to run these tours and provide memorable experiences for international visitors. The lodges we stayed at were delightful - I particularly loved the Desert Quiver Camp; the setting of dreams. Thank you, Gregory and Chameleon!

One of the best tours I've ever done in my life. The distribution of days and places visited is very well planned, also the food, hotels/lodges and even how to spend spare time. The group I traveled with was amazing and I made lifetime connections. I learned so much about Africa, animals and many other topics I couldn't stop asking about. I'd like to thank Gregory, our tour guide, for being so kind and making this experience remarkable, I won't forget.

This was a great way to see the country and almost all of the key stops in Namibia! From the transportation to the unique and lovely accommodations and delicious food options (which also surprised us)! Gideon was our driver and guide for most of the trip and even climbed Big Daddy with us! He was knowledgeable and fun. There are some long driving days and some bumpy roads, but it’s a great way to see the many changing landscapes. I also highly recommend doing the Sandwich Bay with dune boarding add-on tour in Swakopmund. It was one of our trip highlights!

We visited the Taste of Namibia safari for 7 days. The guide was Gideon. There are no words to describe the emotions of safari. The guide was great, calm, attentive, solved all the issues. Everything indicated in the safari was 100% completed. All the lodges were beautiful. What I saw exceeded my expectations. My first safari in Africa, which left only positive emotions. The safari organization is the best. I recommend it to everyone.
