Covering an area of 455 square meters excluding the gutter and exterior pavements, the church is shaped like a shell. The architect based himself on the regional peculiarity, that is to say the "seashell coast" on which Nianing is located. Nicolas Vernoux-Thélot explained that he took as his starting point the shape of a cymbium, this spiral-shaped shell very common on the Petite-Côte and the Senegalese coast. "This form was then designed according to the constructive constraints of the program and optimal bioclimatic orientation". From a distance, the visitor perceives the succession of five vaults, then the height of the bell tower. The 800-seat church also has 4 ribbed vaults with various dimensions ranging from 4 to 15 meters wide and 10 to 20 meters high. The last vault houses the bell tower which is accessible by a helical staircase and rises to 4 meters below the metal cross of about eight meters. Departure to Mbour.

Absolute recommend this tour! The guide went out of his way to make sure we had the best experience. The tour feels immersive starting from the hotels and the foods you eat. The schedule is tailored to us. I’m a manual wheelchair user and all hotel chosen by guide where accessible, same goes for tours. Let them know what you need ahead of time and they will take care of it. The fun starts as soon as you pick up from the airport. Worth it!

This tour is an exceptionally organized and entertaining adventure through Senegal. I customized it to 8 days. Amadou and his team ensured I was safe and happy the entire time. Malang was more than a tour guide and treated me like a friend, enthusiastic to show me his country, and seemed to know every local we encountered along the way! The tour includes lovely accommodation and excellent meals. The Saloum Delta picnic was an unforgettable experience and one of my favourites, but it is really hard to pick from all the fun and interesting things we saw and did.

Where do I even begin? 🤩 Amadou is an exceptional guide and made me feel safe, welcomed and entertained my entire trip. He and Alpha (who drives) were a true highlight for me. I’ll miss them both dearly. There is high attention to detail, exceptional service and a much needed human touch at each point of the trip. I honestly couldn’t recommend Asgil more highly. I wish I took more photos (I was recording everything) but I was always given time and space to capture things that caught my interest and shown new things I may have otherwise missed. As a solo female traveller I never once felt uneasy and I’m not surprised so many choose to travel through Senegal with this team. I’ll be back for sure! Thank you Amadou and Alpha✨

Our holiday in Senegal was amazing. The itinerary was well thought out and varied. We had lots of exciting experiences and saw many different aspects of this fantastic country. Our thanks to Amadou for arranging the holiday for us and special thanks to our guide Malangi, who looked after us so well and went the extra mile to make sure we had a great time. Our thanks also to Ibu our driver. His smile was infectious and he was such a careful driver. The two of them really helped to make the holiday so great. We will always have fond memories of our holiday and would recommend Agsil Senegal Travel Tours.

Amadou Barry is a thoroughly professional guide always looking out for what we needed and wanted to experience during our travels in his country. An excellent guide himself, he added local guides in our various destinations such as Goree Island, St. Louis, and Joal-Fadiouth to give us a greater depth of experience. In the Parks we had Rangers providing us with a more educated appreciation for what we were seeing. Lodgings, including 'glamping' at an eco-lodge in the desert, were thoughtfully chosen and very comfortable. The food -- so much delicious fish! -- was great and a high point was a picnic in the Saloum Delta that could be titled "Amadou's Feast" in the spirit of "Babette's Feast" or any other film that romanticizes food and the meaning of sharing a meal. Our 8 day itinerary covered a lot of territory giving a a broad perspective of the country of Senegal. If you are interested in history, art, crafts, food, nature, wildlife, and culture, this is a trip for you.

My friends and I did an 8 day custom tour of Senegal and LOVED it! Amadou Barry oversaw our trip and patiently answered our never ending questions (he knows his country!!!) and the local guides he had were knowledgeable and delightful. I especially liked seeing the fish market in Dakar, seeing the fishing area in Saint Louis, the enslavement buildings on Goree Island, the artist colonies, driving into the desert where we camped and rode camels, riding narrow boats to Shell Island. A beautiful country! Don’t miss Agsil Senegal Travel Tours! Margaret Hegg
