Sam was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide for our group. He provided plenty of information that locals would know and did not sound like it was a rehearsed script from a guidebook. He offered to make stops that were based upon our group’s interests and seemed genuinely happy to spend time with us. I would not hesitate to call upon Sam should we again venture to Skagway!

Our family of 9 took this tour in early September with guide Chris and thoroughly enjoyed our day. Chris provided great information throughout the day and was very flexible with the sights we chose to do (we skipped the suspension bridge and enjoyed spending more time walking around at other stops). Chris helped us spot mountain goats and even a bear and had a sighting scope for us to use. He gladly took family pictures for us and gave good food recommendations when we stopped in Carcross for lunch (with the town being all tourists we had low expectations but our lunch at The Bistro was excellent). Emerald lake was beautiful. We enjoyed our stop to see the puppies - the baby (only child with us) especially liked this! I would recommend this excursion to anyone traveling with a group- much better than a big bus tour.

This was by far the best excursion I have done in all of my traveling. Our guide, Chris, was so patient with me and my family which consisted of my parents with limited mobility and my kids in their twenties. This tour had something for all of us and was highly personalized, moved at our pace, and was so informative. I will suggest this to anyone I know traveling to Skagway. Chris was top notch, the bus was clean, bathroom stops and the stops for the best pictures and scenery was so thought out.

Wow, really just wow! This was one of the most magical experiences and I’m thrilled that we got to experience this with our guide Chris. Not only is he very knowledgeable, he made the trip special for my children. He knew all the perfect spots and made sure to hit all the best rock throwing places. Don’t bother looking any further, if you want to truly experience Skagway and all the beauty Alaska and the Yukon have to offer, book with Chris!

What can I say about this tour? If you are visiting Skagway and you want to travel with a local rather than the crowd book this tour. From initial contact to the tour itself the experience of dealing with Sam and Chris was brilliant. We were met at the agreed time and nothing was too much trouble for Chris. We visited lots of beautiful stops on our trip and Chris was knowledgeable and friendly throughout. Definitely worth a 5 star review. If you don’t book you really are missing out.

Sam was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and professional. Felt great to get away from our cruise crowds. Wonderful to stop and see the sled dogs and be the only people there. He timed things perfectly.

Private Getaways – our group of five connected with Samual for a Skagway tour. He provided an incredible experience ensuring we spent as much time as we wanted enjoying the sights and stops. From the Yukon sign to the dog mushers camp, this is a must do trip in Skagway to get away from the crowded port tourists area and t-shirt shops immediately in town.
