The area offers dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. The time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. Once you have located a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle but endangered giants is unforgettable. Return to the accommodation, check out and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi is framed by lush, green-terraced hills that reach a height of (2,200 – 2,478m) but it’s the 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water that make it most magical — you could admire them all day.

Home to Africa and Danny our tour guide made the trip so easy and seamless. The communication from the start was always quick and seemed instantaneous even though there was a big time difference with Australia. We did a "budget" 9 day tour of Uganda and it was one of the best experiences. This was not budget and exceeded all expectations. The accommodations that were provided were spacious, the food was plentiful and the staff at all the accomodations were friendly. Shows that Home to Africa has great relationships with the accomodations and their expertise. Our tour guide Danny was one of the highlights of the trip. He knew all the best tips and tricks, basically the first people into the national parks in the morning, maximising the chance of seeing the rarer wildlife. Danny had great stories and kept us entertained on the longer drives between different areas of Uganda. He also knew every tour guide that he passed which then helped us see more wildlife outside the scheduled itinerary. Danny also provided great advice on timing and locations that only an experienced guide would know. He let us have freedom to do whatever but would gently guide us if he knew something better was coming up. I would suggest requesting Danny to anyone. I highly recommend Home to Africa and especially Danny. These guys know what they are doing.

From the very first communication with this tour company to the guide and the activities, everything was excellent. We did a 9 day custom tour and trekked to see the golden monkeys, Gorillas, chimps, and rhinos. The 2 boat trips we did were good as well. We even saw a lion in a cactus tree, which no one had ever heard of finding one in these trees. It was amazing. Our guide was knowledgeable, had a good sense of humor, was a great driver and all-round good guy! The staff in the office were absolutely the best, their communication was awesome. I highly recommend this tour company!

Great Safari in Uganda with Home to Africa! First, the email exchange was smooth and efficient with all team members. We were able to adapt the itinerary according to our desires and they knew how to answer our questions. Our guide was Dani, always smiling, it was very easy to chat and laugh with him. Dani had solid knowledge and good advice during safaris, he allowed us to see many animals and great scenes with leopards, lions, elephants, giraffes, rhinos, hyenas... Dani was also very accommodating to adapt to our wishes, he did his best to optimize every minute of our stay. We chose to meet the chimpanzees and gorillas. This encounter with the primates was out of time, grandiose. Special mention for trekking through jungle and plantations, which led us to a gorilla family living on the mountainside in a dense jungle. In conclusion, a thousand thanks for a memorable family stay. Limeul family, end of September 2024

Our 16 day trip with Derek around Uganda was an absolute trip of a life time. Every effort was taken to make sure that we were looked after - even right down to details telling us what side of a boat to sit on to see the best animals. Derek was so knowledgeable about every aspect of his wonderful country and seemingly knew everyone. We saw incredible wildlife at every turn and already can't wait to come back. Thank you so much Derek and Home to Africa!
