This is probably the most beautiful route up Kilimanjaro. The second most popular option among the climbers, Machame route, also known as “the Whiskey Route”, offers a wide variety of views, landscapes and experiences.
The accommodation on the way up and down is strictly camping (mobile tents) only. Camps along the trek are favorably located for smooth and gradual acclimatization transition process. On the 3rd day Machame Route converges with Lemosho and Umbwe at Barranco camp.

Tim and his team looked after us so well, everything was sorted for us and nothing was too much trouble. The safari which we tagged on at the end was fantastic, our driver was very knowledgeable and brought us to where he knew we would see the big 5

I had an absolutely amazing experience on Kilimanjaro with Tim and Kilimanjaro bucket list adventures. His team were amazing, I went with a group of 43 from Ireland, from the guides to the porters and the cooks, we were looked after superbly. With a group this size the logistics must have been testing, but Tim handled absolutely everything exceptionally. We also went on a 2 day safari afterwards, again a amazing experience. I cannot recommend this company highly enough.

An unforgettable Kilimanjaro & safari experience – exceptional from start to finish From start to finish, our experience with Tim and Kilimanjaro Bucket List Adventures was absolutely amazing. From the moment we were collected at the airport, we were treated like family and made to feel completely looked after. Everything ran perfectly throughout the trip. The organisation, support, and attention to detail were outstanding. The quality of the food on the mountain was unbelievable — honestly some of the best food we’ve had, especially considering we were climbing Kilimanjaro. It was consistently fresh, filling, and far beyond expectations. The entire team were exceptional. The guides, porters, and support crew were professional, kind, encouraging, and always smiling. They looked after us incredibly well on our seven-day Machame route climb. There were 43 of us on this trip, and every single person had nothing but positive things to say about Tim and his team — which really says it all. After the climb, we also completed a two-day safari to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, and once again the experience was outstanding. Seeing the big cats up close, along with elephants and giraffes in their natural habitat, was something truly special and an experience we’ll never forget. It was the perfect way to finish an already unforgettable trip. I would recommend Tim and Kilimanjaro Bucket List Adventures to anyone thinking of climbing Kilimanjaro or doing a safari in Tanzania. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Just came from Kilimanjaro in the 7 days Machame route. It was my first time in Africa and one of the best experience in my life. Everything was planned very well from Start to finish. Communication was top notch 24/7, Tim was highly responsive in answering all my question. I didn't expect all the services i get on the mountain, it was a world class from food, gears and team. Our guide Erick was professional and highly experienced.

Tanzania safari with Kilimanjaro Bucketlist Expedition was an unforgettable experience, we were thrilled in every aspect. Tim was very helpful from start to finish in all the logistics and expertise. Our guide Godlisten was fantastic: very professional, competent, kind, always helpful. We were so lucky to see all the big 5 and other animals including Wildebeest, Zebras, Elephants, Lionesses with cubs, a memorable scene of the Leopard with prey on the tree. We had the chance to get to know and experience the Maasai tribe and the people, kind people. In the lodges we were received very well and we felt at home, the cuisine simple, but very delicate, especially good desserts, also excellent packed lunches provided during excursions. Highly recommended for those looking for an authentic safari and attention to detail.

From the initial contact via email to the final goodbye at the airport, Tim and his team delivered. Always willing to answer questions, Tim was able to make trip details clear and in plain English. The support team: The 8-man crew assigned to me for the 8-day Lemosho route was super. Without this group of guides, cooks, and porters I dare say I would not have made the summit. Special shout out to Aniseth, (aka Barack/Eggman), the cook on the trek. Unbelievable meals on the mountain were cooked fresh everyday- and to my great surprise he managed to bake a cake on the mountain to celebrate my birthday - what a surprise that was. Then there was the porter crew of David, Francis,Steven,Robert (aka ToiletTent Man), James, and Prince. These guys were the crew that hauled and set up base camp and all the provisions for the team. The Guide: Last, but by no means the least, was Peter, the trekking guide with 100+ summits under his belt. A combination of guide, naturalist, bird and wildlife spotter, coach, listener, leader, and psychologist all wrapped in one. Endless energy, strength of two solid men, good communication skills, and knowledge of the mountain like the back of his hand combined with incredible trekking client observations skills, was the key to summit success for us. He and David (aka food runner/dedicated client needs support person), we’re invaluable on the last push up to Stella in the early hours of the morning light, and then great encouragers together as we pushed on to Uhuru peak a while later. The Food: Barak was a culinary artist with three hot cooked meals a day and hot coffee a s team whenever we needed it. I recall on one occasion he and David met us a good mile before we arrived at a base camp, just to bring us hot team after a long long set of hours of hiking. Almost there they said and gave us the full we needed to get us into camp. Of particular note were the soups and hot meals that were made on the mountain. The recipes were 5-star class and delivered hot every time. The accommodations: The rent was good sized abs wind proof. Easy to get in and out of and had an eating/front areas separately from the good sized sleeping quarters. They supplied a light and ample hot water at wash-up time before dinner and early in the morning. David was always up early with a warm cup of coffee and a good morning. The Lemosho trek: Definitely the way to go. Tim and Peter arranged for the last camp to be closer than usual so as to make the last push with good time. Notes: Night are cold. Definitely take 2 Nalgene bottles which the cook will be happy to fill with hot water for the nights stash in your sleeping bag. Define get a sleeping bag from your trekking company. They know what you will need. Bring a fleece liner. Bring hand warmers for summit night. Wear broken in boots. Be prepared to slide down the backside with poles and gators. Don’t overpack. Bring trekking snack food. Listen to your guide, listen to your body, stay positive, focus on the end goal, don’t sweat the small stuff, observe nature and God’s handiwork, be thankful for each new day, and above all pole pole.

Tim and his team did an outstanding job in supporting our group of eight to successfully complete our expedition to the summit of Kilimanjaro. From start to finish, Tim was available—whether during the climb itself, our safari to the Masai Mara that followed, or our explorations around Arusha. He also arranged excellent accommodations throughout the trip. Most of us had little to no experience trekking at such altitudes, yet we always felt we were in safe and capable hands. Our main guide, Sam, led the team with remarkable expertise and knowledge. Along the way, they provided delicious meals and comfortable tents, ensuring we were well taken care of. On summit day, the team went above and beyond—assisting the more exhausted members, even carrying our backpacks, which made reaching the summit far more manageable. We built a great rapport with the crew, and wonderful people like Saddam, Obama, Justin, and Idi made the journey not only safe but also incredibly fun. I am deeply grateful to each and every member of Tim’s team for giving us such a memorable journey to the top of Africa. I wholeheartedly recommend Bucket List Expedition to anyone planning to visit Kilimanjaro
