And the risk is considerable: not only from the prides of 10-plus lion that lord over the savannah, but also from the cheetahs that stalk the open grassland and the leopards that lurk in tangled riverine thickets. This impressive array of large predators is boosted by both striped and spotted hyena, as well as several conspicuous packs of the highly endangered African wild dog.

  • We couldn't have imagined a better tour. Already looking forward to our next safari in Tanzania with African Pango

Browsing sites like Safaribookings;com , we found a program from African Pangolin Safaris that appealed to us, well-filled with what we wanted to see, and affordable within our budget. At our request, Mansoor further customized the program with an extra safari day in each of the three National Parks: Mikumi, Ruaha, and Nyerere (Selous). He also arranged a hotel stay in the city upon our late-evening arrival and an extra day in a beach hotel before our return flight, as well as all transfers. Furthermore, due to an announced strike at Amsterdam Airport, we arrived in Dar es Salaam a day early, so we left for Mikumi a day early for an extra day of safari. Mansoor arranged everything. Mansoor, who also accompanied us throughout the tour, and Ismael, who arranged the transfers to and from the airport, are friendly, polite, attentive, punctual, and careful drivers. We always felt safe, both in the hustle and bustle of the city and on the busy main road and unpaved dirt roads. The program was well-structured. The distances are what they are, but were kept short by overnight stays in interesting places like Iringa and MoroGoro. Thanks to Mansoor, we also visited places you wouldn't normally visit as a tourist: in a restaurant in town, in a village for lunch, or buying bananas or water at a roadside stand. Free drinking water was plentiful in the cooler in the vehicle, which had a pop-up roof for the game drives in the parks. Except for the dinners in Iringa and MoroGoro, all meals were included. There was plenty of choice, usually soup, chicken, beef, fish, pasta, potatoes, rice, and melon, pineapple, or cake for dessert. Lunches were sometimes packed, sometimes in restaurants. It's definitely worth visiting all three parks in the Southern Circuit, as each is completely different. What particularly appealed to us after visiting the northern parks 24 years ago was that the southern parks are much less crowded. The guides almost all know each other and exchange information about what they've seen when they cross paths, but even without that, Mansoor amazed us with sightings we would never have been able to make on our own. We saw a huge number of animals of various species, certainly also thanks to Mansoor's over 15 years of experience as a guide. He knows every path in the parks like the back of his hand and knows where the animals like to be at certain times. We opted for basic to mid-range accommodation and were very pleased to be able to stay close to, or even in the midst of, nature in many places. We feel like we've made a new friend in Mansoor and expect to return to Tanzania in the relatively short term to explore the even more unknown parks in the western circuit. Returning to Tanzania will definitely be for a new tour with Mansoor and African Pangolin Safaris.

  • Amazing holiday with African Pangolin Safaris

We booked a 9 day trip with African Pangolin Safaris. From the start the communication was very good, we felt listened to and got good advice too. The planning was flexible and after a few different options, the entire trip was turned around to accommodate a cheaper flight. The booking process is user friendly, All electronic. It was a trip of a lifetime with so many experiences, covering 4 national parks, 4 days of game drives, camping with Masaai, spectacular gorge walk, a day trekking in the mountains, a boat safari and a walking safari. We chose basic/standard accommodation and it was always very clean and the beds were comfortable. The car was reliable and comfortable, it even had a mini fridge. Mansoor is a very safe driver, who knows the parks, and many other drivers so often exchanged top tips of where to go and what to see, so we saw loads. And he's just good company. I can't recommend African Pangolin Safaris enough.

Absolutley amazing, we did a 9 day safari combined with my little brothers birthday and it was awesome. His birthday was at the maasai tribe and was a whole new experience. We went through 3 different national parks and saw so many animals, our driver (mansoor) spotted so many animals and had contact with other drivers in the park to give us the best experience possible. Would highly recommend!!

  • African Pangolin Safari's delivered exactly what was written on the tin!

Mansoor was our guide in all three national parks (Ruaha, Mikumi & Nyerere) for 9 days. We camped with the Maasai, relaxed with a beer whilst the hyena's were only 50m or so away, watched the lion's tuck into a tasty zebra and sat meters away whilst the crocodiles slid silently into the water. The canyon just outside of Iringa was impressive and certainly worth the stop. The walking safari with Didi was an experience not to be forgotton - whether it was him smoking the dried elephant poo, or him sticking his toe in it to test the temperature - all very informative in an amusing way. We would thoroughly recommend African Pangolin Safaris as they went beyond what was promised. Mansoor was exchanging tips all the time with other guides to provide the best experience for us, persevering to find the animals in their natural habitat. He even arranged for our 14 year old son who had a birthday whilst camping with the Maasai to become chief for the morning and a surprise birthday cake appeared!

We did a 7 day safari in Mikumi, Ruaha and Nyerere National Park. The safari was excellent organized by Pangolin safaris. The parks are characterized by different vegetation and landscape and are therefore very varied. Also the accommodations were excellent. Thanks to our professional guide Mansoor we were able to see many animals: elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, hippos, the rare wild dogs and many more. Mansoor is a very friendly person who gave us a lot of information about the animals and Natinalpsrks, but also about the history and culture of Tanzania. We have a wonderful, exciting and unforgettable time with him. Thank you very much. We can definitely recommend a safari with Pangolin Safaris.

African Pangolin Safaris offered us, undoubtly, the best safari experience we could've asked for. Even though we travelled to Tanzania before with another company, this time we were much more satisifed with all the services we have recieved from our guide, Mansoor Mohamed, an extremley kind and gentle person, a "living encyclopedia" in the african wildlife domain and an exceptional driver also. We've spotted a lot of animals, we ate very tasty traditional food and the accommodations were extremely comfortable and clean. We can't wait untill next time when hopefully we'll travel again with this beautiful company to the Katavi NP and the west side of Tanzania.

  • An exciting and beautiful trip we will always remember

the visits to the parks were a fascinating experience, very well organised and with very professional guides / drivers. We had a chance to see at close quarters and very calmly lions, elephants, leopards, buffalos, giraffes, antelopes, hippos, crocodiles and a fantastic and beautiful array of birds. We asked a lot of questions to the drivers/guides and they always showed a great knowledge about the fauna and flora. They were also very nice and friendly. And the organisation fulfiled exactly the programme we had agreed. We found the parks Mikumi, Ruaha and Nyerere (Selous) were a great choice, as the number of visitors was quite moderate thus facilitating the safari without hassle for the animals and making the experience very pleasant. The trip involved driving quite a few hours through dirt and tarmac roads, but this had the advantage of seeing the villages and people from very close. Definitely it has been an experience we'll remember for ever
