Firstly we have a quick meet & greet with your Guide. The purpose of this is for a quick introduction and chat before getting on with some of the walking part of this spectacular walking tour. Ask your guide any questions you have as they’ll certainly be willing to answer. It’s what makes this tour good for everyone, from groups and families to solo travelers: our guides love to hear what interests you! Even if you have no knowledge of this little island you will easily find it here on this tour! So don't be afraid to say ‘HI!’ and ask a few questions here at the starting location and of course along the way too. The guide might have an idea of something new to see on the day of your tour so there’s always a surprise in store!
O'Connell Street
From the starting point our Guide will bring you on a journey towards the widest street in Ireland. You’ll hear how it got its current name after being renamed twice! O’Connell street is one of the main thoroughfares of Irish History and so has seen a lot of footfall over the centuries. Meet the Statues & Stand where the Irish War for Independence began and hear of the Irish Civil war which began immediately after independence was established. Find out what happened to Nelson’s Pillar and how all the windows of the street were broken all at once. From Dublin’s darkest days to the Stiletto in the Ghetto and beyond. O’Connell street is where it will all start for you on this tour.

5.00Highly recommend this walking tour! Alex was so knowledgeable about Irish history. We’re American and he was able to tie together Irish historical events with American events we knew more about. He was engaging and fun to be with. We toured mid January and were the only 2 people on the tour! Despite not having a full group, he gave us his full effort. Loved it. Thanks, Alex!

5.00Our tour guide Alex was born and raised in Dublin. He is incredibly knowledgeable about history and architecture which shows his obvious love for his city. He completely customized the tour for our family based on what we had already seen and are interests. He gave us an appreciation for the city that you won’t find on a site seeing bus or large generic tour. He led us through the streets, over bridges and into chapels all the while providing us with history, humor and tales. You won’t find a better guide in Dublin! Highly recommended!!!

5.00Alex was our amazingly well informed guide. He is a gifted narrator, tying together all kinds of interesting facts on various subjects together, keeping our attention sharp by teasing us so now and then with nice little cliff hangers. No doubt he knows a lot more than he shared with us, but fortunately he found a very good balance between entertaining history and information overload. Moreover, he had answers to all the questions that rose up during the tour. In short: marvelous!

5.00Alex ran our tour and it was the highlight of our trip. Knowledgable, friendly and funny, he guided us around parts of the city we would have missed. We were lucky that it was just us on the tour, and Alex asked us what we were interested in learning about and tailored the tour to our interests. It was true value for money and we would recommend it to anyone!

5.00I would thoroughly recommend this 'walk and talk' with Alex our tour guide. My son and I (together with a lovely American couple) enjoyed a leisurely, highly informative tour, learning much about Dublin/Irish history (and more) from a very well informed and charming Dubliner/guide. It's the best way to find out about the history and the hidden bits that guide books can't tell you, plus the occasional tip of where to eat/drink etc. Heather
