South Slope of the Acropolis of Athens
As in every good story, everything begins with an introduction. It's not easy to tell the story of one of the most historically rich cities in the world. Yet, we aim to give our guests a broader perspective. That's why, at the beginning of the tour, we offer a concise lesson on the creation of human civilization, and then we place ancient Greek civilization — and Athens in particular — within that framework, so that people can truly understand its importance and contribution.
Theatre of Dionysus
The first monument we will see on our way up to the Acropolis is the Theatre of Dionysus — the first theatre in human history. This is where theatre and drama as a practice were born, and where the earliest plays — tragedies and comedies — were performed in front of the Athenian public. These plays were written by some of the most famous writers of all time, including Sophocles, Euripides, and Aeschylus.

Harris was an absolutely amazing guide. If you love history (real history) this is a must to do. His knowledge is incredible, insightful and honestly quite inspiring. He is funny and engaging, does not just tell you, makes you think! In his tour, you can learn a lot from the ancient world and maybe a bit about yourself. “Know thyself”

I was on this tour with one other tourist, and actually felt very immersed in the experience with our guide, Harris. He made us feel important, explained the history, information and connection of Greek history with the landmarks of Acropolis and Pantheon, but more importantly, how it is linked with democracy and western civilisation. This is a tour experience I enjoyed very much, and highly recommend anyone to participate in, especially if you have a strong interest of deep history.

Harrison was very informative and my nephew was definitely inspired by his in-depth knowledge and passion for Greek history and Mythology and its profound effect that it had then and now The tour went on longer than expected and I guess trying to explain thousands of years of history objectively into 3 and half hours is a big ask Would highly recommend this tour if you are seeking a higher learning Thank you Harrison

My tour experience of the Acropolis was excellent. My tour guide, Harris, was extremely informative and knowledgeable, providing a detailed account of the history relevant to this historical site. He was incredibly enthusiastic which helped captivate me as an aspiring historian. The flow of the tour was also very good, as the pacing helped in the hot weather, and really allowed you to take in the information that corresponded with the surroundings, with a chance to take some amazing photos. The tour lasted about four hours and was packed with facts and information, so for some people this may be a lot to digest. That being said, if you are passionate about history or archaeology this tour is definitely worth it and I could not recommend it enough.

Harris/Haralampos is a fantastic tour guide - He knows everything about the Acropolis of Athens, and some. He brought the site to life - My son, who's studying History at Uni, found the tour very interesting, & Harris to be inspiring - The tour is worth every Euro & booking is highly recommended. It would be a crime to visit & not take this tour Tip - If you book the late afternoon tour, it ends at a fabulous spot to watch the sunset :) Thanks Harris for an amazing afternoon

Tour is exactly as described - in-depth and informative but still relaxed. Harris is happy to take the time to answer any questions that come up and has the broader knowledge to place the subject within its wider historical context. Very well priced for the time and insight offered.

Our tour guide Harris was outstanding. A passionate and well informed deep dive into Greek history, what it takes to create a democracy and the significance of the Acropolis as an expression of the principles of the classical age of Greek philosophy. I highly recommend for anyone with a love of history and philosophy.

My family consists of several history/philosophy nerds and this tour met all our needs, and was interesting to the non nerds also. Our guide was excellent at sharing information and ideas, and also knowing where the best photos could be taken, water could be refilled, etc. Some of the walkways are quite steep and/or slippery, but so worth it. People with mobility issues use caution.

We love history and wanted to avoid the typical Acropolis tours that feel superficial and full of clichés. After quite a bit of research, we were really happy to find the Historical Tour. It turned out to be almost 4 hours of deep, well-connected insights, not only about the Acropolis itself, but about the broader context that makes this period and place so unique. It was genuinely moving to imagine the birth of theatre and so many other pivotal moments. We did the tour in the afternoon in April and it was great! If it’s warm, bring a hat and plenty of water. We highly recommend it, without hesitation.
