Acropolis
The Acropolis of Athens (Ancient Greek: ἡ Ἀκρόπολις τῶν Ἀθηνῶν, romanized: hē Akropolis tōn Athēnōn; Modern Greek: Ακρόπολη Αθηνών, romanized: Akrópoli Athinón) is an ancient citadel located on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens, Greece, and contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historical significance, the most famous being the Parthenon.
Herod Atticus Odeon
The Odeon of Herodes Atticus is a stunning stone theater located on the southwest slope of the Acropolis in Athens. Built in 161 AD by the Roman senator Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife, it was originally covered with a wooden roof and could seat around 5,000 spectators. Still in use today for concerts and performances, it is one of the finest examples of ancient Roman theater architecture in Greece.

Here’s a polished review you could post on TripAdvisor, Google Reviews, Viator, or the tour operator’s website: Our walking tour of the Acropolis, Ancient Agora and the historic heart of Athens was one of the absolute highlights of our visit to Greece. Annie, our guide, was simply exceptional. Her knowledge of the ancient monuments, artefacts and history of Athens was remarkable, but what truly set her apart was her ability to bring that history to life. Rather than simply reciting facts, she made the experience engaging, inclusive and relevant to everyone in the group. We had people from a variety of different countries on the tour, and Annie masterfully wove each nationality into the story of Greece, highlighting fascinating connections between ancient Greek civilisation and the modern world. She was a treasure trove of knowledge, particularly when explaining how so many words and concepts in the English language have their roots in Greek history and culture. The tour is extensive and incredibly rewarding. We covered around 18,000 steps over four hours, yet the pace was comfortable and well managed. It’s ideal for able-bodied visitors of all ages. We even had an 11-year-old in our group who made the walk look effortless, despite the Athenian sunshine! There were plenty of opportunities to stop for water, use the facilities, and enjoy some welcome shade along the way. By the end, we’d certainly earned a fantastic lunch. The undisputed highlight was reaching the Acropolis and seeing the Parthenon and the Temple of Athena. The climb is worth every single step. Standing in front of a structure that has survived for over 2,400 years is genuinely awe-inspiring. The craftsmanship, scale and historical significance are difficult to comprehend until you’re standing there yourself. And from the summit, the panoramic views across Athens are simply breathtaking. A huge thank you to Annie and to our fellow travellers. Everyone was friendly, engaged and welcoming, and much of that was thanks to Annie’s inclusive magic, which quickly turned a group of strangers into companions sharing an unforgettable experience. If you’re visiting Athens and want to understand the city beyond the guidebooks, this tour is an absolute must.

Aphrodite was amazing! Was well worth having a guide navigating us through the crazy crowds and packed areas. All the sights were incredible to see in real life and I would recommend this tour to everyone. The agora was beautiful, and much less packed which was a relief after the acropolis.

We had a cloudy day, not too hot. Our guide, Artemis, was superb giving interesting bits of historical information in a clear concise way. The walk to the Acropolis was challenging. However it was certainly worth it.
