National Museum of Ethiopia
This is one of the best museums in quality and diversity of the exhibits. Archeological exhibits include the 3.5 million-year-old fossil of Lucy (or Dinkinesh – ‘wonderful’- in the native language),
St. George's Cathedral
St. George’s Cathedral is one of Addis Ababa’s most iconic and historically important churches. Built in traditional octagonal style, it was constructed to commemorate Ethiopia’s victory over the Italians at the Battle of Adwa in 1896. The cathedral is beautifully decorated with vibrant paintings and stained-glass artwork created by renowned Ethiopian artists, including Afewerk Tekle. Inside, visitors can explore the small museum showcasing royal crowns, ancient manuscripts, and historical artifacts connected to Emperor Haile Selassie and Empress Menen. The cathedral remains an active place of worship and a symbol of Ethiopian pride, culture, and Orthodox Christian heritage.

5.00Oli and the team took us on an truly immersive tour of Addis Abba. During our full day trip we hit a lot of Addis top sites. İncluded on our tour was the National Museum, the ethnological museum, Entoto Mountain and church. Following this, we had a coffee ceremony and moved on to the frenetic Merkato. We closed the day with a special visit to the Ta'eka Negest Be'ata Lemariam Monastery. A mixture of tour guilding from museum and Oli's team was given, which made for a good mox. Highlights of the tour included: wondering the the labyrinth of sellers on the Merkato. We saw the pounding of iron work, washing of clothes, packing of cheese, and the sale of a variety of house hold items, souvenirs, and jewellery. At the National Museum we had an enthusiastic and entertaining story given regarding the birth of humanity and the exiting discoveries around Ethiopia, along with shots of the famous Lucy. A particular highlight was visiting the beautiful Ta'eka Negest Be'ata Lemariam Monastery where we played a ceremonoal drum and saw the resting place for Menelik II.

5.00We had an amazing day tour of Addis Ababa on a long layover though ADD, with our guide Abe and driver Tade. Abe was friendly, welcoming, professional and extremely knowledgeable. Abe was very generous sharing his knowledge and experience of both history and culture, and Tade was super friendly and professional, getting us through bad Addis Ababa traffic safely and efficiently! We didn’t have super long but it still felt like a great introduction to this beautiful city. Highly recommend Liyu Ethiopia Tours, and Abe & Tade in particular !

5.00I was a bit adamant about doing the tour by myself during my 25h layover, but it was the best decision ever. I got to see the city and learn its nuances, understand its history through the museums and city monuments, its culture through pottery traditions, and last but not least, the one I was most excited for was experiencing the beauty of the Orthodox faith. Everything was so reflective, I cannot thank my guide Yhun and Oli, who only were well informed on everything but also good compamy.

I would have loved to have more time with him. We greatly appreciated Awet's driving. It was during rush hour and he maneuvered it seamlessly. I really recommend this tour and Abe and Awet. 5.00I booked an Addis Ababa tour with Liyu, and Olí was an exceptional tour guide! We loved the tour, organization, and guide so much, we booked another tour with them days later, this time to Debre Libanos monastery and the Portuguese Bridge. We saw two groups of baboons which made our hearts so happy. If we return, we would definitely do another tour with Liyu. Thanks Olí and thanks to the whole team !
