What To Expect
Once you are a certified Open Water Diver the next step is a PADI Advanced Open Water Course, which consists of 5 dives chosen from the PADI Specialties. Both the Deep and Navigation adventure dives are required for the Advanced Open Water certification. Alternatively, you can choose to complete each as a separate Adventure dive which can be credited towards an Advanced certification or Speciality course to be completed at a later date. • Minimum age: 14 years • Duration: 2 days for the diving portion The online portion takes 4-6 hours. Once you sign up for the course, we will set you up with PADI so you can start the online portion of the course. This certification includes five Adventure Dives, including the Deep Adventure Dive, the Underwater Navigator Adventure Dive, Peak Performance Buoyancy and your choice of two of the following: Aware Fish ID Digital Underwater Photographer * Drift Diver Enriched Air Diver Multilevel and Computer Diver Night Diver Peak Performance Buoyancy Search and Recovery Diver Underwater Naturalist Underwater Photographer Underwater Videographer Wreck Diver

5.00Can’t say enough good things about this operation. Great people, up-to-date equipment, and well maintained modern boats. We were assigned Carlos as our Dive Master throughout our 6 days diving with West Bay Divers and consider ourselves super lucky. Carlos was excellent. He has such a calm and relaxed demeanor and helped our 14 YO daughter obtain her advanced open water certification. We also did a night dive and a shark dive and having Carlos with us was very reassuring. Having our own Dive Master for just the 3 and sometimes 2 of us has spoiled us forever. 😎

5.00I came down to Roatán with no prior dive experience at all. In my time there I got my open water certification and my advanced open water certification with Takeshi!! He was an amazing instructor, helped me get through my anxiety and truly showed me the wonders of the locals reefs. The shop staff was similarly absolutely phenomenal helping me through everything I needed to get done before and during my trip. I also must mention the boat captions who were wonderful navigating the area! The equipment was is excellent conditon as well as the boats. All in all I cannot recommend this dive shop enough if youre going to Roatan!

5.00Very professional dive shop. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Our dive master was Takeshi. My wife and I really enjoyed our 8 days of diving with him. Barney in the shop is good people. We love diving with this shop.

5.00I had an excellent experience with West Bay Divers. I complete the advanced open water course and a several fun dives with them. There staff are outstanding. Abraham - my instructor- always made sure we were well looked after and getting the most our of our dives. The boats and equipment are in great condition and well maintained. Looking forward to diving with them again!

5.00My best friend and I got our AOW certification with WB Divers in November 2025 and it was an wonderful experience! We have taken many PADI classes and gone diving with many dive shops and this was by far the best experience. First, our instructor Joel was fantastic - he put safety first and made us feel very comfortable, and ALSO was a ton of fun to be with. And he was the clearest instructors I've ever had. Even though I have no interest in diving in Roatan again (too many other places to try) I would travel there, or wherever Joel is teaching, if I decided to get an additional certification. That's how good he is. The crew and staff and shop were also quite impressive - very well organized and very friendly and kind.

5.00The guides, the dive gear, the boats and the dive sites were amazing. The guides were incredibly insightful and passionate about the underwater world. The dive sites they took us to were incredible, and they took care to ensure they were fit for the course, but not at the cost of other divers on board. Special shout out to our guide, Sean. He had a way of making the course work fun and interesting. His knowledge of the sea life we saw was unbelievable and we loved his enthusiasm for diving.

5.00My husband and 21 year old son just got their Advanced Open Water Diver Certification at West Bay Divers! Diving in Roatan is ideal because it is by far the calmest waters we have ever dove in! It is also filled with a ton of coral to hover over and swim though! Absolutely Beautiful Fish too! Mekela our dive instructor is the BEST…Friendly, Knowledgeable, and pointing out fish to see on every dive! The night dive was mind blowing with octopuses camouflaging, lobsters, and tiny shrimp peering out…etc. A Huge shout out to our photographer Juan Darhanpe…AWESOME, as well as our captains Anthony & Justin, and the Dive Master Takeshi! Thank You for a Phenomenal Dive Trip! We’ll be back!
