Our Kokoda History Treks follow the footsteps of the brave as they fought one of the most desperate series of battles across the Owen Stanley Ranges from Kokoda to the doorstep of Port Moresby at Imita Ridge.
The route follows the original wartime trail.
Our Kokoda History treks cover all the major battle sites at Imita Ridge, Ioribaiwa Ridge, Brigade Hill, Templeton's Crossing, Eora Creek, Isurava, Deniki and Kokoda where you will receive detailed historical presentations.
The trek includes a solemn Dawn Service involving trekkers and our PNG guides and carriers at the Isurava Memorial. This service is regarded as the highlight of the Kokoda trek experience.

I Recently completed the Kokoda Trek with Adventure Kokoda and in was incredible. Peta was absolutely amazing, supportive, knowlegeable and made the experience unforgettable. I loved meeting the people pf PNG and learning about the history of our Australian heroes. I found the trek challenging, emotional and rewarding all at once. I would absolutely love to do it again and when i do i will definitely be booking with adventure Kokoda again.

Outstanding logistical organisation. Communication first class. Trek leader - Peta- was outstanding. Entire “on-trail” team were very good. The trekking experience was fantastic . Tents were shown up by the poor conditions. Port Moresby Hotel accommodation very poor.

An unforgettable experience hosted by Adventure Kokoda, our trek guide Peta Bull was passionate and knowledgeable about WWII history, her individual touches made the experience all the more unique. A physical, mental and emotional challenge that all Australians should aspire to complete.

The Kokoda Track is an experience that leaves a lasting impression. But what truly makes the difference is the organization. Adventure Kokoda manages every detail with precision. The team prepares the group and creates the right conditions to tackle the trail with confidence. Peta Bull leads the group with authority and care. She brings energy, makes clear decisions, and keeps the team united even in the toughest moments. Her presence provides reassurance and motivates everyone to give their best. The local porters are at the heart of the experience. They offer constant support, work with great dignity, and share a genuine connection with the land. Without them, the journey would not have been possible. The trail remains challenging: steep climbs, mud, and weather. But it is precisely these difficulties that shape the final outcome. You reach the end with a new awareness and a deep respect for the history of the Kokoda Track. I recommend this experience to anyone looking for a real, well-organized challenge. With the right team, every step has meaning.

Amazing experience, the track exceeded my expectations. Jesse our guide was wonderful with history weaved in through the trek. The local team were wonderful - so helpful. Food was great always fresh and enough for everyone. This was the best thing I have ever done, but also the hardest. If you are looking to book, scroll no further.

Amazing experience with Adventure Kokoda. Jesse was very knowledgeable and made sure we were well informed with the history, stories and beautiful poems throughout the 8 days. Special mention to his wonderful team of porters, carriers and cooks. Super stoked at 71 to have completed with my Son and Grandson, making a rare 3 Generation Trek. Highly recommended but train hard….. and then train harder!!! Judy Hartley

Just completed a 9 day history trek from Ower’s Corner to Kokoda with Adventure Kokoda. I can highly recommend this company. If you want to give yourself the best chance of completing the trek and immersing yourself in the spirit and history, then these are the people to book your trip with. From end to end everything went seamlessly and they gave me the confidence and security to feel safe should anything unexpected occur (such as the weather in my case). The porters are very professional and will look after you the whole way. Highly recommend you book a porter. Definitely worth it !!! Thanks so much to the whole team for an unforgettable and very moving experience on the trek. Seeing how the other groups operate, I can honestly say that Adventure Kokoda are the benchmark.

Just finished a trek with this company and honestly couldn’t recommend them more. Everything was super well organised from start to finish, which made the whole experience so much easier. The team were really helpful the entire time, nothing was ever too much trouble and they were always happy to help. Our guide was really passionate about the history and the track itself. They shared so much interesting information along the way and made the whole experience more meaningful, not just a physical challenge. The porters were amazing. Super professional, friendly, and just genuinely great people to have around. They worked incredibly hard but were always smiling and encouraging everyone along the way. Overall it was such a smooth, well run trip, If you’re thinking about booking, do it!!! you’ll be in good hands.

Had a fantastic experience with Adventure Kokoda on the History trek lead by Kerry Symes. An incredible challenge through stunning PNG landscape, the Adventure Kokoda team supported us as well as I could expect and I couldn’t have asked for a better trek leader than Kerry Symes. Kerry was able to convey the enormity of the Kokoda campaign in WW2 whilst supporting, encouraging and giving words of wisdom to all trekkers, and always with good humour. The porters are a superhuman bunch and I know I couldn’t have done the trek without my personal porter Roi. I can’t recommend the whole experience with Kerry and Adventure Kokoda highly enough.

I recently completed the Kokoda Track for the second time with Adventure Kokoda. Once again, the experience was excellent. From the time we booked, Tracie answered all our questions and provided comprehensive information about what to expect. Our trek leader (Kerry Symes) was professional, entertaining and had a thorough knowledge of the wartime history. If you are thinking of doing the Kokoda Track, I would thoroughly recommend Adventure Kokoda.
