Our Kokoda History Treks follow the footsteps of the brave as they fought one of the most desperate series of battles across the Owen Stanley Ranges from Kokoda to the doorstep of Port Moresby at Imita Ridge.
The route follows the original wartime trail.
Our Kokoda History treks cover all the major battle sites at Imita Ridge, Ioribaiwa Ridge, Brigade Hill, Templeton's Crossing, Eora Creek, Isurava, Deniki and Kokoda where you will receive detailed historical presentations.
The trek includes a solemn Dawn Service involving trekkers and our PNG guides and carriers at the Isurava Memorial. This service is regarded as the highlight of the Kokoda trek experience.

Had a fantastic experience with Adventure Kokoda on the History trek lead by Kerry Symes. An incredible challenge through stunning PNG landscape, the Adventure Kokoda team supported us as well as I could expect and I couldn’t have asked for a better trek leader than Kerry Symes. Kerry was able to convey the enormity of the Kokoda campaign in WW2 whilst supporting, encouraging and giving words of wisdom to all trekkers, and always with good humour. The porters are a superhuman bunch and I know I couldn’t have done the trek without my personal porter Roi. I can’t recommend the whole experience with Kerry and Adventure Kokoda highly enough.

I recently completed the Kokoda Track for the second time with Adventure Kokoda. Once again, the experience was excellent. From the time we booked, Tracie answered all our questions and provided comprehensive information about what to expect. Our trek leader (Kerry Symes) was professional, entertaining and had a thorough knowledge of the wartime history. If you are thinking of doing the Kokoda Track, I would thoroughly recommend Adventure Kokoda.

I could not imagine walking the Kokoda Trail with anyone other than Adventure Kokoda. Their support from the moment I enquired, until the day I returned was outstanding. Trek Leader Kerry Symes was very knowledgeable about the war history and supportive of everyone throughout the entire trip. His passion for the trek is obvious and his knowledge helps you understand and appreciate how hard it was for our Australian Soldiers, and why Kokoda is so important in Australia's WWII history. The PNG support crew were wonderful, and I cannot speak more highly of the guides who helped us along the way. This has been the most amazing experience thanks to Adventure Kokoda.

Walking The Kokoda Trail was a life changing experience and something I will never ever forget. Adventure Kokoda were so professional from the initial booking to completion (arriving back in Brisbane) and in the management / coordination of our group in the "land of the unexpected" and the numerous challenges it poses was second to none. Thank you to the Adventure Kokoda management team, our trek leader (Kerry Symes) and all related staff - you were absolutely amazing!

Adventure Kokoda and trek leader Peter Morrison made our Kokoda Track Trek memorable. It is a tough trek with a group of adults and teens but the team made everything run smoothly and the explanations of history, significance and detail of the Kokoda campaign made it all the more special. The PNG support crew led by Knoxy were brilliant, there to save you from a fall, cook your food and do it with a smile. The campsites are, comfortable and very well maintained. The villages we walked through were very receptive to the team and serve the worlds best pineapple. Overall a great experience made better by Adventure Kokoda

I did the Historic kokoda 8 day trek with a mate of mine. Our Guide Jake was supportive, informative and a ripper of a guide. My porter 'Jacko' was someone that made the trek so much easier and he was invaluable as were the other crew. The 18 trekkers who were after a similar experience got a lot more in return. The scenery and weather was outstanding from start to finish. Learned so much about myself, about the campaign and the himan spirit. Bravo.

The 8 day trek with Adventure Kokoda & Jake heading the team was a wonderful experience. Do not miss this opportunity to learn of the history of the Kokoda track and our Aussie heroes. Exhausting and exhilarating this will leave you on an absolute high. It is both physically and mentally challenging but Jake and the PNG team supported us every step of the way. 5 stars 🌟

We recently completed an 8 day trek with Adventure Kokoda and Jake as our trek leader. The trip was well-organised, and we learnt a lot of the battle history of Kokoda. Although the trek is demanding both physically and mentally - kudos to Jake who ensured all trekkers are well looked after and motivated. The team of porters engaged by AK are also outstanding individuals that did their very best to help the trekkers. Truly an extraordinary, once a lifetime adventure...!

The whole experience from booking the trip to the return flights home was well organised and transparent. The trek leader explained in detail about the battles at each site and briefed the group thoroughly each day on what the trail will be like each day. Food was simple but good and the porters were friendly and very helpful. Overall would recommend Adventure Kokoda to anyone interested in the trek
