An amazing experience in the rainforest from the aerial tram (unique in Panama) to observe the canopy from above and we will find different species of birds and with little luck sloths and monkeys.

After a 600 meters route on the aerial tram we will reach the Observation Tower for panoramic views of the Soberania National Park, the Chagres River, the Panama Canal, and some native Emberá villages.

Later we will visit the Sloth Sanctuary where we will observe and learn about life and habits of sloths and the efforts for the conservation of the species.

What To Expect

Gamboa

After picking you up at your hotel we will go to the rainforest. After a 45-minute drive we will arrive to Gamboa where we will board a gondola in the aerial tram (unique in Panama) to observe the canopy from above and we will find different species of birds and with little luck sloths and monkeys. After a 600 meters route on the aerial tram we will reach the Observation Tower for panoramic views of the Soberania National Park, the Chagres River, the Panama Canal, and some native Emberá villages.

Gamboa

Later we will visit the Sloth Sanctuary where we will observe and learn about life and habits of the sloths and the efforts for the conservation of the species. We will visit the Butterfly House where we will observe the butterflies that live in the rainforest and we will also visit the orchid and frog exhibitions. We will return to Panama City after a 45-minutes ride.

When traveling in the tram, it was very peaceful and serene. We did not see any sloths in the trees going up or down in the tram. Once you reach the top, there is a tower there that you can walk up. It is a long walk so it helps to be somewhat physically fit.

Wonderful experience from start to finish. My interactions with Monkey Adventures were very good. I had an outstanding tour guide in Ricardo. We stopped at the hotel to see the gorgeous river, then moved on to the aerial tram. After that splendid ride up to the top of the hill and the glorious views, we visited the sloths, butterflies, and tiny frogs. There is also a plant nursery with lovely orchids and other tropical plants. Ricardo is very knowledgeable and I learned a lot all along the way. We were lucky to see a sloth in the trees moving from one tree to the next. We saw a monkey, many birds, leaf cutter ants, a tortoise - amazing amount of joy packed into a half day tour. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed this tour. The aerial tram ride in the rainforest was so peaceful and beautiful. And the walk to the top of the observation tower gave you stunning views of the river and the canal. We also enjoyed seeing the sloths in the sanctuary and getting to do the butterfly house.Overall an enjoyable tour.

We had a great time gliding through the jungle canopy. Spotted a toucan and just enjoyed the ride. The observation tower was great too. Our guide Juan was very informed. Went through the sloth sanctuary,the butterfly area and the frog house. We were very pleased with the trip. Side note, on the way up we stopped by the Gamboa resort. Definitely on my list of places to stay. Absolutely gorgeous.

This was supposed to be a five hour tour. This was three hours from the minute. They picked us up until the minute they dropped us off. I spent a lot less money on a 14 hour day eight of which we were touring islands on the Caribbean. The tram was lovely no wildlife. But they cannot control that it’s called wild for a reason. But I was really disappointed with the animal experience there were five sloths that you could get within four or 5 feet of, but that was it. If you just want to see the rainforest, this is a great tour a little expensive. Our tour guide was very nice. And had a lot of great information.

We had a great time on this excursion. The aerial tram was so cool, the view is beautiful, and the crew was kind and informative. We got to see the rainforest, frogs, butterflies, lizards, tortoise, agouti, and sloths. It’s a nice half day trip.

Worth the money. A good Travel Guide who was knowledgeable. It's quite a climb getting to the top of the viewing platform at the top of the aerial tram ride but worth the effort. Platform is accessible for wheelchair users.
