This tour package enables the traveler to explore the city of hope on an afternoon tour. This tour is unique because one is able to experience the exuberance of the slum at it's peak operational hours. Kibera is one of the few slums in the world that upholds peace, love and unity and is a place where social and artistic enterprises can evolve outside the confines of a more formal settlement.

Our accredited guide will meet you at Greenhouse mall along Ngong road and take you through a walking tour around the largest urban slum in the world. While on tour, travelers will be treated to a walk through Toi market which is the second largest open air market in Nairobi and serves as the backbone of Kibera's economy. Other notable tour points include Kibera Pride Orphanage housing well over 25 vulnerable children from the slum, Victorious Bone Craft group specializing in recycling of domestic animal bones to make jewelry, Power Women Group and Shop which is a group of women who are victims of HIV/AIDS. Get to listen to their stories and how they impact the community through awareness creation on the same disease. Visit Hope and Shine Kibera Center, home of slum talent development. Travelers can carry with them school and kid stuff like pens, books, crayons. One will also be able to volunteer at the school and work with kids on art work and talent development. The Kibera Slum tour was so educational and eye opening. Lucas did a fantastic job leading us through his neighborhood and explaining about the hardships and resilience of its people. The people of Kibera are so special and welcoming. The tour involved a lot of walking on uneven surfaces but well worth it.

I had a wonderful time with Lucas on this tour, learning all about Kibera. This is a walking tour, so you should come prepared to walk a lot (which is something I really enjoyed, but others should be aware before booking). You should also bring water and cash as he does take you to a couple different places to be able to purchase items made by some of the local people. I would definitely recommend this tour to others if you are trying to get a real picture of life in Kibera.

Such a memorable experience! The tour guides Lucas and Elijah were extremely professional yet offered a personal touch to the experience. They were very knowledgeable, answered every questions we had. Everyone should see Kibera with these guides. I’ve been on other similar tours and they were all good but this one was excellent! 10 out of 10. Bring water, camera, some cash and walking shoes. I did get some locally made jewelry from recycled materials. Enjoy and be ready for the little Kibera residents to steal your heart!

Good tour. But I'm left a bit orphaned: what should I think about this? Who should tackle this?
