The trip started with me boarding the wrong bullet train to Utsunomiya instead of Takasaki station, which took around 45 minutes to get back on course. The final meetup station is Maebashi station, which is another 15 minutes. I was about 50 minutes later than the meetup time in the booking (very sorry about that), but I did notify the tour operator and they are very accommodating. When I arrived at Maebashi station, I were greeted by 3 guides, Shinobu (main guide), Miki (guide/main guide assistant/translator) and Hiro (trainee). The guide to tourist ratio is very high, 3 to 1 (3 guides, 1 tourist) :D. Late start aside, the e-bike provided was just like a normal bike, with the exception of climb assist, which makes uphill cycling easy, anyone at any level of fitness can participate in this tour. Although, the seat might be a bit small for anyone with a large frame. I love everything about this tour at first glance, it's even better in person. After staying in/around Tokyo for ~1 week, Maebashi, Gunma is a change of pace. You'll get a glimpse of rural Japanese daily life, beautiful fields and scenery throughout the cycling trip. Even the included lunch (from local restaurant) is delicious. My favorite is the soy sauce ice cream, very delicious and unique. There are many places we visited I did not mention here, you should discover them yourselves. At the end of the tour, the guides also offer to drive me back to Maebashi station to return to Tokyo (thank you, Yusuke-san, for taking me back). I were very lucky on that day, as I were getting in the car, it started to rain and clouds covered Mt. Akagi. What an end to a perfect day! Again, thank you Shinobu-san, Miki-san, Hiro-san and Yusuke-san for the unforgettable trip!

Awesome experience of cycling, in rural areas, awesome view of farms, a tough hiking experience, many beautiful parks and all facilities were there despite being in remote place.

This tour is probably the best opportunity to see beautiful Akagi mountain in Gunma prefecture while riding a super fancy electric bike and sharing your stories about Japan with other people. The tour is perfect for people who wish to visit the Japanese rural areas yet do more than typical provincial activities. The food was delicious and unique (for example, compared to Tokyo), guides were super professional and friendly. 100% recommendation for everyone who loves Japan with all of their hearts.

Just 2 hour train ride from Tokyo, I was fully surrounded by nature. I enjoyed cycling along country roads led by a wonderful guide. She explained local cuisine, culture, and interesting spots, which made the tour even more special. The view of Mt. Akagi was amazingly beautiful. It was also fun to visit a local soy source factory, where I learnt how to produce soy source in a traditional way. It is really worth spending one full day in Gunma area getting away from the hustle and bustle of a big city like Tokyo.

It was a great experience!! Good guide, beautiful view of countryside, delicious local food…. My favorite parts of this tour are view of Mt. Akagi and beautiful riverside near Maebashi station. Distance and duration were also good. It was not too hard.

The weather was beautiful and the tour was wonderful! There was a dedicated cycling train on the way, and after getting off the train, we were able to enjoy a relaxing cycling tour while admiring the magnificent scenery of Akagi Mountain. The soy sauce factory tour we stopped at along the way was also very interesting.

This is an amazing tour for those who are looking to see Gunma from a more personal point of view. If you have the JR East Pass or JR Wide pass, you will be able to take the shinkansen from Tokyo to Takasaki in about an hour's time. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by an amazing group of guides who are able to communicate in both English and Japanese. The rental bikes were very easy to use and it was very easy to follow the guides. Even for those who might not be super athletic, with the help of the power assist, you should be able to finish the tour with no issue. We were able to see and experience various things such as senbei/coffee from local shops, a viewing of a special local shrine, soba and tonkatsu (pork is famous in this region!), and we even learned about the process of making soy sauce. We were able to have all of our questions and thoughts answered as everyone was very knowledgeable, and I truly enjoyed experiencing a more off the beaten path view of Gunma with the help of local guides. This tour would be great if you're in town viewing the spring blossoms or fall foliage, or would be great during a lush green summer. Along with the great experiences, you will not forget the amazing view of Mt. Akagi that serves as the background for a good part of the trip.

It was really wonderful! Cycling through the city centre to the central station invited us to the quaint atmosphere, especially along the small river lines with willows. Getting on the train with bike was new to me, and exciting! First, we visited a local shrine, where the guide told us the interesting local folklore related to the volcano, Mt. Akagi. And then we had a local popular bento from a long-established shop “Torihei” in the park of the ancient burial mounds. Torihei bento is a boxed rice topped with some slices of chicken breast cooked with their special soysauce -based sauce. So yummy!! The wide, open view from the top of the mound, blue sky, and refreshing breeze added some special taste. We were surprised at the historical fact the guide told us; a third of burial mounds of Japan is located in Gumma prefecture. We also explored into the mounds which site was used for JR TV commercial. After lunch, our adventure continued through autumn leaves, along the river, and old towns. Most of the time, sublime Mt. Akagi was in our sight. We were happy with great pictures taken with the backdrop of it. We enjoy cycling on such a beautiful autumn day, and learnt about Mt. Akagi and its vicinity. I hope I will go there in different seasons.

After taking shinkansen to Takasaki from Tokyo (which is super convenient and takes less than an hour), we rented electric bikes and went for an amazing adventure. Our guides were super fun and we had a great time. They introduced the region's history to us, and the great touch were hand drawings, which were super cute! We had a chance to try a lot of local specialties - first coffee and crackers from an old manufacture, being sold in a funny way - in a vending machine! Then we had lunch in an amazing soba restaurant - I never ate such a good soba before <3 Cycling was really pleasant with electric bikes and we didn't feel tired. You should definitely try it! In the end we visited a soy sauce factory which was really amazing. The guide explained the process of making soy sauce and we could buy a bottle of this delicacy which is said, was enjoyed by an Emperor himself! I really recommend this trip to those, who want to see Japanese countryside, hidden gems, that you will never see by yourself or relying only on blogs. 1000/10 experience!
