The origin of the Real Alcazar of Seville dates from the time of the High Middle Ages, although some areas of Islamic art that impress with its delicacy are preserved. In any case, Mudejar art and Gothic style predominate, but Renaissance and Baroque elements were added later.
Over the centuries, it has been the residence of the members of the Spanish Royal Family in Seville. Even today, it remains for the exclusive use of royalty, except for tourist visits.
This complex includes many wonderful features. The quaintest is the Patio de las Doncellas, with its ponds that reflect the intricate mudéjar plasterwork for which this palace is known for.

1.00Don’t use Viator. No guide, we had to wait for an hour, still no guide. They got us in for an unguided tour and would not issue a refund. Will never book anything else with them

But, that aside, the guide Patricia, and the staff at the guide company are fantastically helpful and patient with hundreds of foreigners asking the same question in a million languages! Patricia our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about the Alcázar and the history of Sevilla and Spain more broadly. Fantastic value and a great experience!

5.00Maria Angeles was a wonderful tour guide! She was knowledgeable and took her time explaining the history of the building and each room. Very enjoyable tour! The Alcazar was beautiful, including the gardens. Definitely recommend going up the stairs to view the gardens from the “balcony.” Worth the trip and glad we did the organized tour. It was an easy and seamless entry and learned more than if we had done the tour on our own. And don’t forget your photo id to enter! We did, but luckily had passport photos on our phone. My daughter is studying here for the semester and walks by the Alcazar everyday for class and said there is always a long line. So do the tour!!

4.00The tour guide was excellent. However, we waited almost 30 minutes at the tour office after our meeting time and then again at the entrance where me met our tour guide, who was changed again once we arrived. We then felt rushed during g the tour.

5.00This is a 'must do' tour. You will see a magnificent palace and gardens and learn its develoment, with additional history of Seville, Spanish monarchs within a European context. Our guide Ivan was incredibly knowledgable, interesting and amusing and made the experience thoroughly enjoyable.
