Hosap Castle (Hosap Kalesi)

This castle stands on the grounds of an ancient Urartian Fortress. It was built in 1643 by Sari Suleiman, the ruler of the Mahmudi, who was subordinate to the Ottomans. Its name comes from the Hosap stream around it.

Ancient Urartian site of Cavustepe (Sardurihinilli)

See Cavustepe Castle that is a site from the Kingdom of Urartu. The castle consists of upside and downside constructions. It was built between 764-734 BCE.

Yedi Kilise

Although it is called '7 churches', it consists of 2 groups of 5 churches, library and a bell tower. The oldest one is St. Sophia Church which was built in the 8th century. The other one is the ruins of the St. John Church. These two churches are in the first group of structures. The core of the second group of structures is the Virgin Mary Church, which was built between 1003 and 1021 AD.

Lake Van

Take a tour all the way around the incredible Van Lake.This is the largest lake in Turkey -- so big, in fact, the locals call it a sea.

See this picturesque waterfall. It flows from a height of 18 m. There is a suspension bridge and a cafe in case you want to walk around or have a cup of hot Turkish tea.

In Ahlat, you'll find graves dating back over 2000 years. Important people throughout history have been buried here, and there are plenty of interesting Ottoman gravestones as well.
