3.00In summary the actual tour as good, this is what we really wanted. A drive through Belize city and then a reasonably quick tour of Altman Ha; nothing to excessive and long. The start was not ideal though, we were given no specific joining instructions, I did expect these. It said go to pier 2. Our ship docked at pier 1, so I did not think it odd that there was no one with a ‘Belize Private adventure’ y shirt met us. We walked to pier 2 but still could not find anyone. Eventually after asking lots of friendly people but ensuring we were not whisked away by another tour etc we found a lady from ‘ecological tours’ which she said was our tour, after she phoned around, she said we needed to go to peir 4 booth 4 (about 5 minutes walk away). We did this, but when we got there it was very busy and chaotic, we could not see signs for different booths so asked a man we thought was a guild. It turned out he worked for a different tour company but rung the number on the bottom of our ticket. He pointed us in direction of people in blue shirts from ‘ ecological tours. They checked their paperwork but could not find our names anywhere. They were very good and put us on a tour with a coach going that minute. Tour was actually ok, but it was a full 52 seater coach.

3.00Of all the Cruise Ship terminals we have been to (namely San Juan Puerto Rico, Puerto Plata DOminican Republic, Ocean Cay Bahamas, Cozumel,Mexico and Mahogany Bay, Honduras) the Belize City Terminal was the smallest and the least interesting of the lot.We therefor decided to take a tour to the Althun Ha Ruins which is about an hour from the Cruise Port. Altun Ha, an archaeological site 31 miles from Belize City, was a significant ceremonial center in the Maya Culture.It is worth visiting only if the weather was not too hot.
