Salerno
Once a collection of fishing villages, Italy's magnificent Amalfi Coast is now a world-class tourist destination. But as is often the case, with great beauty come great problems. Too many vehicles, crippling traffic, too few parking areas, and hairpin curves that make two-way traffic unbearable, are just a few of the challenges faced by Italy's Amalfi Coast in recent years. This day trip from Rome allows you to travel smarter, without sacrificing on comfort or style. Visiting the Amalfi Coast by high-speed train means you'll not only enjoy extra legroom and complimentary beverages and snacks, but you'll also cut travel time to the coast in HALF. You'll step off the train and onto the pier where your Amalfi Coast adventure begins.
Positano
In an intimate group, your guide will lead the way from the train to the ferryboat. Once seated, enjoy a one-hour cruise from Salerno to Positano the UNESCO World Heritage site of once-fishing villages-turned stomping ground for the world's elite. You'll step back onto terra ferma to explore Positano, the jewel of the Amalfi Coast. Choose whether to have a morning swim or explore the dozens of chic boutiques and artisan shops, then enjoy a leisurely lunch before returning to the pier for a short ride to our next destination, the town of Amalfi. It’s no wonder why this stunning coastline takes its name from Amalfi. This bustling town is where the action is, packed with shops, beaches, restaurants, and picture-perfect photo ops. Your guide will provide you with a short orientation stroll including an overview of the 11th-century cathedral and a limoncello tasting at one of the local shops, after which you can enjoy some free time shopping and exploring or hit the beach.

We enjoyed this tour but it does feel a little rushed since the whole group needs to stay together and use the ferry boats so you need to be on time. We had a good guide and explained a lot of things to us as we cruised along the coast. Positano was a nice little town and Amalfi is bigger with a beautiful town square and church. Food was good, we didn’t make any reservations but the place we ended up eating we was good. You should know that the farther away you walk from the pier, the prices start to go down so you’ll find the cheapest prices at the far end of the street. Not much of a beach at these places unless you pay to enter the beach clubs. We were back in Rome before 8pm.

What a great day! I wouldn’t travel to Amalfi and Positano any other way. Our tour guide Mauro was so energetic, funny and so knowledgeable. He pointed us to the best places to experience what each city is best known for while avoiding all of the tourist traps along the way. Can’t recommend this tour enough if you have the chance.

Excellent experience guide was wonderful, gave clear explanation of historical points. Kept everyone on track and rearranged stops based on times. Wonderful experience, the restaurant on Amalfi which the guide took us too was amazing!
