Lodge Day 1: Our journey commences as we pick you up in Manaus. We head to Ceasa Port, where we board a speedboat, making our first stop along the Rio Negro river at the meeting of the waters. Here, the black Rio Negro and the brown Solimões never mix, creating an otherworldly sensation at this spot. Subsequently, we visit the floating village of Catalão. Here, you can explore a fish farm and encounter the Giant Arapaima Gigas, one of the Amazon's most formidable creatures. Afterwards, we make a stop at the Careiro village. From there, we enjoy a one-hour ride before heading to Maçarico Lake by speedboat. You'll arrive at the Amazon Peacock Paradise Ecolodge at around 11:30 a.m., and a delectable lunch will be served at noon. At 3:30 pm, we embark on a canoe trip, providing you with the chance to observe the Amazon Pink River Dolphin and a variety of colorful birds during your excursion.

In the morning, at 5:30 am, we take a motorized boat to witness the jungle awakening to a new day. We then return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast. Following breakfast, we set out on a morning trek. Your guide shares knowledge about medicinal plants along our walk and introduces you to the insects that call this place home. You might even spot some of the local wildlife, including monkeys, which are always a source of fun when you're unsure about the source of sounds (except, perhaps, humans). After completing the trek, it's back to the lodge for lunch.
Our afternoon activity begins at 3 pm. The group departs by motorized boat along the riverbanks to a fishing spot, where we fish for several different species of piranha. During the trip, you can also spot various species of birds and insects. Afterward, we return to the lodge for dinner. After an exhilarating day of exploration, we head back onto the waters at 8:30 p.m. in search of the elusive Cayman. We use a spotlight to find the caiman, and the guide also provides information about caimans in the Amazon. Then, we return to the lodge for an overnight stay.

During the dry season when there's no water from August to March, this trip is conducted on foot. It's an excellent area for observing animals like monkeys or sloths in their natural habitats. When we finish, it's back to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, at 3 p.m., the group embarks on a small regional boat where you will have the opportunity to paddle among the channels and the small igarapes. During this trip, there is a good opportunity to spot some wildlife and savor the sounds of nature. Then, it's back to the lodge for dinner.

We had a wonderful time at Peacock Paradise. I had agreed in advance that we would have a private guide who would focus on wildlife watching and photography rather than the other activities in the standard programme and this worked very well. The guide, Helder, was excellent at understanding what we wanted and we very much enjoyed his expert boat rides and walks in the forest. We also loved the lodge itself, with beautiful views from the big and comfortable rooms and balconies (with great hammocks) over the river. The food was excellent too, very tasty and abundant. Moreover, the chef was kind enough to take our food requests into account (one vegan and one intolerant to dairy). All in all a marvellous stay and highly recommended.

Our stay at Peacoch Ecolodge on the Mamori lake was really unforgettable for many reasons: first, the position, very secluded with perfect view on the lake and river; second, the lodge: we were the only guests and stayed in room #1, a family hut with 4 beds and the best view; third, the people: a whole family took care of us, starting from Helder - our guide, a young skilled guy who perfectly showed us everything possible, always in a relaxed and reliable way - following with his father, a perfect cooker preparing the best food (especially desserts!) every breakfast, lunch and dinner. My boy also managed to play pool with Helder’s little cute kid, Beni, and really enjoyed his time up there. Btw Helder is a pro fisher of Arapaima: if you are into fishing contact him!
