What To Expect
Amsterdam Canal Ring
First we’ll visit the old quarter of the Jordaan. See highlights like the Westertoren and the Anne Frank house, taste the original Amsterdam ‘bitterballen’. We’ll navigate via the river Amstel to the Red Light District. See the fabulous storehouses en then visit the hidden side of the city. Cruise past the National Maritime Museum and admire the East Indiaman ship dating from the Golden Age and enjoy the exotic Hortus Botanicus.

5.00Tour was a great experience. We took the 5pm tour which was a good time as got to see Amsterdam at twilight. Drinks and snacks were excellent with a varied choice and Bitterballen was delicious! The captain was humorous and informative. She told us lots of history of Amsterdam. Was a perfect way to spend a couple of hours of our trip

5.00Mare was the captain on our Saturday tour and she was amazing! She was funny and knowledgeable about the city - she had us all laughing. We really enjoyed the small group setting, snacks and drinks. The boat was clean and had blankets for us as it was a chilly evening. We highly recommend this tour!

Captain Storm provided the best balls in all of Amsterdam with exceptional knowledge of the city. Not only did we see amazing things and hear educating stories, Captain Storm is an extremely proud father explaining all of the amazing things Amsterdam has offered him and his family. You get more than a tour you get knowledge of everyday life and some history. I would love to return to this exact tour.

5.00As soon as Stephan greeted us before embarking on the boat, I knew we were off to an excellent start. He was by far the highlight of the entire Canal cruise. He was so welcoming, sincere, a wealth full of knowledge, history and stories about Amsterdam and Netherlands in general. I learned so much from him - he was kind, funny in the conversation he really kept our party engaged in a conversation all the time. Oh, and the canal cruise was excellent too! I highly recommend this for everyone who wants to come and visit Amsterdam. It was the first experience that we had on our first day here and it really set the tone of our trip. Mahalo to Stephen for sharing his Aloha from Amsterdam with us from Hawaii. Marcie

5.00We did this boat tour a couple of years ago and had an amazing time the first time. We loved it so much that we booked it again. Captain Storm is an amazing tour guide, very knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. He had a great selection of wines (whites, reds and even a rose). We had some wine , cheese and he even got those balls that looks like Croquettes. I recommend this tour and we will probably book it again next time we come

5.00What a fab canal cruise! We were a party of 8 on Saturday night and enjoyed every minute of it. Skipper Eric was very informative and a fabulous host. I've been to Amsterdam many times (also lived there almost 30 years ago), but have seen it all through a different lens now - and learnt so much. Would highly recommend the night time cruise, it looks even more beautiful at night. Plenty of snacks and drinks to go around too!

5.00My mom and I did this tour together and I can't say enough good things. Our tour was small and personal with only 4 other passengers plus our guide, Erik. Erik was knowledgable and funny, and he made sure we had plenty to eat and drink on the 2 hour tour. This is a fabulous way to see the city of Amsterdam. Many of the boat tours are big or have a reputation for crude jokes, this was neither. It was small and intimate, and we learned a lot about the history of Amsterdam. I highly recommend!

5.00Five stars. Warning: contains honesty. This is not a canal tour for people who clap when the plane lands. This is a sharp, funny, unapologetically direct ride through Amsterdam with Captain Storm—who is, in fact, exactly what his name implies. From the first moment, this was clear: no script, no pandering, no soft-focus history narrated like a museum audio guide. Just raw, non-traditional stories delivered with Dutch precision, sailor sarcasm, and the confidence of a man who absolutely does not need your approval. Our kids (6 and 10) loved it—especially the freedom to sit at the bow while a salty, hilarious sea dog at the helm told stories with zero concern for fragile sensibilities. It felt less like a tour and more like a perfectly written sitcom that just happened to be floating. Important note for Americans (said with love): If you’re raising children named Braxtonleigh or Dreffany Margaux Chantilly Jr., this tour may emotionally vaporize you. Captain Storm does not censor reality. He will pop your bubble. Your snowflakes may melt. That’s on you. Some other passengers appeared to have pre-installed personality inhibitors. Dead fish showed more spark. Captain Storm carried on regardless—unbothered, undefeated, and entertaining us all the way to the end without a hint of desperation or apology. Normally this is where I complain about overpromising Viator experiences. Not today. This delivered exactly what it promised and then sharpened it with wit. My wife was pregnant at the time (do the math, time travelers—mazel tov). No “enhancements” were needed. This tour stands entirely on its own. Now that we’re back in Napoli, our kids are ranking their favorite experiences of the entire trip. Captain Storm and his boat are firmly top three. Easily. Book this tour if you want something real, funny, slightly dangerous to your comfort zone, and genuinely memorable. Skip it if you prefer your history padded, filtered, and approved by a focus group. Captain Storm is not for everyone—and that’s precisely why he’s excellent. 🚤🔥
