Salt Lake City
The tour begins with a short introduction to the history of Utah and its unique natural environment. On the way, you’ll see a changing landscape — mountains on the horizon, wide valleys, and the shimmering surface of the Great Salt Lake. As the sun gets lower and the colors become warmer, even the drive feels like a small adventure, with the panorama of Antelope Island slowly appearing ahead.
Great Salt Lake State Park
Antelope Island — the largest of the Great Salt Lake’s islands — welcomes visitors with dramatic geology, wide-open landscapes, and a uniquely rich ecosystem. From here, our exploration of the island unfolds.

After a short drive you are already on Antelope Island. Our guide thought of everything along the way - from snacks to charging cables, everything was there. He was always attentive and concerned for our well-being - and of course to show us all the animals of the island. You probably won't get that close to any bison otherwise! The short hike to a viewpoint for sunrise was not only fun, but also worth it. Thank you for the all-round beautiful experience!

Our second tour with Dima of Matei Travel. Dima, our tour host, has such a zest for life, nature, and making sure everyone is comfortable and having a good time. He was extremely hospitable with offering bottled water, small snacks like granola bars or gummy bears, etc. He always advised us when a restroom would be available, and wanted everyone on the tour to feel comfortable. Dima has a wealth of information that he shares during the drive to and from Antelope Island. The weather was not the best on our tour with rain, wind and cold, but Dima kept encouraging us to step outside the tour bus and see the owl, or the porcupine in the tree, and to walk around the ranch (where the weather was better) on Antelope Island. It was so green and beautiful with the trees, horses nearby, the old house on the property, etc. We truly enjoyed ourselves despite the weather. Dima does an outstanding job of getting the best photo opportunities of bison and offering to take family pictures for you. Thank you, Dima, for making sure we got the best photos, were warm enough, had enough water and snacks; we truly appreciate all your efforts during the tour.

Excellent trip. Got to see bison, horned owl, porcupine, and lots of birds. Guide was knowledgeable and fun to go around with. He brought snacks and water but I would recommended you bring additional if you want more of a dinner. Only negative was another person on the tour who was a jerk. She got on the bus complaining and trying to pick a fight with the guide. She then complained about the a/c so it got turned off and we were all hot. She was upset because of the bugs and said the guide should have told her there were bugs on an outdoor tour of animals on an island surrounded by water. Other guests were telling her to be quiet. She also walked right out close to the bison after being told the safety expectations of staying back. She then mocked the driver when he said he was responsible for our safety. Everyone except her enjoyed the tour.

I'm definitely not a nature girl, but all of the views were breathtaking! Dima was so knowledgeable about the history in Utah- he does his best to ensure satisfaction...even when there is a difficult customer!
