I am a 4th generation farmer here at Faerie Fort farm so I will start by giving a brief history of the heritage of the area. The garden studio is located next to a 1000 year old fairy fort behind our thatched cottage. I will explain the origins of Aran knitting, the various types of wool available and the meanings of a variety of stitch patterns. I will show examples of various cable and stitch patterns and discuss how you can design your own sweater. We can then knit a prepared cable pattern. Knitting with Stephanie was easily the highlight of our trip. Between the drive to her lovely home, delicious snacks, knitting, and seeing her studio and Irish Cobbs, the entire experience was absolutely unforgettable. My husband and I really appreciated Stephanie's warm hospitality. He didn't partake in the knitting lesson but he had a wonderful time and we both learned so much about Irish history and culture. I am already looking forward to booking another lesson with Stephanie on a future return trip to Ireland. Stephanie- from the bottom of our hearts: THANK YOU!!!

The host, Steph was wonderful and very accommodating. She not only gave us great knitting advise but worked one on one with our group member that had never knit before and we all love the experience! We were made to feel right at home with wonderful small surprises all throughout the time. We were not rushed and felt it was very worth the trip.

I had such a wonderful time!! Stephanie was super friendly and shared fascinating stories about the history of Aran knitting and the area. I loved seeing the unique patterns and am excited to try my hand at some techniques. She was a great instructor. Stephanie’s garden was a lovely surprise, filled with beautiful flowers and a peaceful atmosphere (a good place to park your husband). I also enjoyed meeting her adorable dogs and horses, which added a charming touch to the visit. If you’re in the area, definitely check this place out. It’s a delightful mix of culture and creativity. It's a 1:1 experience that you won’t want to miss!

  • Excellent morning adventure!!

It was a pleasure to meet Stephanie! We talked Aran stitches and patterns over delicious smoked salmon and brown bread.I even got to try knitting some stitches and went with detailed stitch instructions to try at home. I came away with a new understanding of and interest in Aran knitting…thank you Stephanie! I’d thoroughly recommend the experience!

This was just delightful! Two of the friendliest dogs in Ireland greeted me at the door. Stephanie taught me a new cast-on and helped me through 3 new (to me) Aran patterns. I can’t wait to start my sweater. I was also thrilled to get to see the faerie fort close up. Excellent regional and knitting history. Trip highlight for me! I think my non-knitting travel companions would have enjoyed just as much
