What To Expect
Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma
Meeting point is front of Kiasma museum, address: Mannerheiminaukio 1H (searchable on google maps). Kindly be on time at the meeting point. The drive up to the nature reserve is 50 minutes one way.
Porkkalanniemi
In Porkkala our walk begins on a forest trail leading to an open-rock area which is the first display of the many diverse areas. This area will give us the opportunity to see what effects coastal weather has on the nearby forest. Shortly after, we find ourselves with a picturesque coastal view. There will be picnic tables to have a break and fill up on a prepared lunch with dessert. While the lunch is prepared, you can explore the nature or relax by the Baltic Sea. After some free-time exploration and lunch it is time to head back to civilization refreshed from this wholesome nature experience. -- In total, you will spend around 3 hours in the Porkkalanniemi nature reserve, including an hour lunch break. Total walking distance is approx. 2.5–3 km. With transportation, the total duration of this nature tour is 4.5–5 hours. -- Dedicated to sustainability, this tour proudly carries the Sustainable Travel Finland label and the Green Activities certificate.

5.00A brilliant trip out into the natural world to see the archipelago and experience some stunning and remote Finnish wildlife. Jeff looked after us at every step, explaining all the flora and fauna we saw, cooking us dome delicious salmon soup with rye bread, cinnamon roll for afters and blueberry juice and sea buckthorn shots to wash it down with, and giving us some free time to explore. As there were only two of us, we had Jeff's undivided attention and he really made us feel welcome and looked after. We saw many birds, quite a few deer and found some interesting trees and plants too. On our return, Jeff even dropped us right by our hotel. An absolute highlight of our trip.

5.00We had a wonderful experience with Alec in the Finish archipelago hiking through the woodlands. Lunch was delicious and enjoyable, plus we had some time to take a short exploration hike on our own. Recommend this activity for outdoors people!
Great excursion out of Helsinki

5.00This was a great experience. The hike was challenging (especially since it was mid February with fresh snow from the night before along the trail) on a particularly cold day. We hiked for about an hour to the shore of the Baltic Sea, and while our guide, Maria, made lunch, we walked across the ice to one of the small islands. We then had salmon soup for lunch. The tour company was very accommodating of our dietary needs (one woman is vegetarian and was given mushroom soup, and 2 do not eat dairy and were served the soup before the cream was added). I thought that the salmon soup was the best I’ve had since arriving in Finland. We then hiked back to the van. I thought Maria was an excellent guide and was able to tell us about the trees and the birds (I couldn’t believe we saw birds despite it being the middle of winter). Overall this was a really fun excursion.

5.00It was great to spend time outside the city down at the sea. We saw otter tracks, showing where they had slid into the water. We also saw a deer with full antlers and some birds. It was very cold but the sun shone and the snow sparkled. Mari was an excellent guide. She carried a huge backpack full of food, drinks, firewood etc and cooked us a lovely salmon soup with rye bread and we had hot blueberry juice and cinnamon cake. She was very informative about the area and the wildlife and clearly loves her job. She was a pleasure to be with. We would definitely recommend this experience to anyone.
