We propose you to learn more about the Lavapiés district from the urban, historical and architectural point of view. We recommend that you save some time before the aperitif by the Rastro to walk together and learn about the history of theaters, cinemas, cafés, museums or their corralas, typical buildings of houses in the authentic heart of Madrid that Traveler has declared as the coolest neighborhood of the world. Small hidden gems like the municipal printing house, rationalist industrial building of 1930 or the last in the area to have a drink like Sala Equís, the last X cinema in Madrid. From here to Cascorro and the history of how the Rastro began, combining the most authentic with the latest in vintage furniture. From there we will go to the Tabacalera where you can see the best of urban art on its facades, passing by Doctor Fourquet with its art galleries until the expansion of the Reina Sofía Museum, ending at the San Fernando Market where you can have an aperitif with a vermouth and some tapas

5.00Wonderful tour! Emilio had so much breadth and depth of knowledge around the history, politics and architecture of these neighborhoods. We SO appreciated his energy and enthusiasm and because of him we were able to see and appreciate many spots that we would have otherwise missed or perhaps seen but without contextualization. Our daughter is studying architecture and was in Madrid for the semester, we did this tour when we visited during her last month there. I wish she'd been aware of and able to go with Emilio for his other tour(s)-so much to learn about this beautiful city. Highly recommend booking this tour and wear your most comfortable walking shoes!!!

5.00A fantastic route, even for people who live in Madrid, like us. Very interesting tour of the architecture, urbanism and history of this neighborhood. Emilio is one of the best guides I have seen (not to say the best), with a great knowledge and very pleasant. We will definitely repeat with another of the routes it offers.

5.00Emilio’s tour was fantastic, full of surprises. He made sure we really enjoyed learning more about the architectural history of the city, the influences that led to its development and how that makes the city the amazing vibrant place it is today. With stop-offs in some great place to grab a beer or vermouth along the way, and something wonderful to eat in hidden places which we’d never have found ourselves. Will definitely return for another tour with Emilio. Five stars!

5.00Emilio, an architect and himself living in Lavapies, guided us perfectly through the alleys of this popular and multicultural district in the center of Madrid. It's amazing the architectural diversity of this old and historic neighborhood. We discovered the evolution of styles (medieval, barroque, Escorial, neoclassical, Art Deco), cross the Rastro and visit the municipal printing press, the market and Casa Encendida. Emilio even gave us his favorite addresses (decor shops, restaurants, rooftop). Looking forward to returning to Madrid and making more visits with Emilio!

5.00I was going to Madrid to do a three-day workshop and I looked for interesting and different options to do in the morning, so I found Architour. I invited several people to come and in the end only my cousin Carmela, from Madrid, could come. We ran into Emilio and he had no problem with there being only two of us. We started the tour and there wasn’t a moment when we didn’t stop marveling at the information well we had as our guide. Ameno, didactic, taking us to very curious and interesting places. My cousin was fascinated. We end up with a delicious vermouth in a very pleasant market I can only thank Emilio for that timeshare. A very special experience highly recommended!
