This will be the hike of your life, the most beautiful views of the Vilcanota range of mountains, where you will pass very close by the highest snow mountain of Cusco “Ausangate” and its 6350 mts. Undiscriptable lakes and the stunning Rainbow Mountain (VINICUNCA), where you will be one of the first one right there (tourist free), get ready.

Nevado Ausangate

We pick you up from your hotel at 5:00 am. and we’ll travel around 2 and ½ hours to Tinki, this is a small village where you will have a short free time to buy something you forget, then we keep going other 30 more minutes to Upis, where we start the hike, the view of the great Ausangate mountain welcome, first will be 2 hours uphill to arrive to the first pass ARAPA (4640 m.s.n.m.) where you will be very close to the sacred mountain of Ausangate, then we will start to going down, where we can see nice lagoons and sometimes wild Vicuñas in the trail, after 3 more hour of hiking you will arrive in Hatun Pucacocha where we will rest the fist night.

Nevado Ausangate

After a healthy breakfast we will keep walking, the challenge will be to arrive to the second pass 4990 mts. (Chillca Apacheta), the views from this trail will offer an unpredictable scenary with the huge ausangate and the lakes on the bottom, every minutes more high and less oxigen, after two hours of hike uphill we will arrive to the pass, where we will make a ceremony to the great spirits of the mountains, then we will start to going down to arrive in the second camping site Ananta Pata

Day 3

Auqui - Rainbow Mountain - Cusco

Vinicunca Mountain

Very early in the morning we will continue our trek, first 1 and ½ hours to arrive to the third pass (Warmisaya) where you will already see our last destination “RAINBOW MOUNTAIN”, we will walk other 1 and ½ hours to arrive that place, we will arrive early before that all the groups arrive, so you will have the best option to take your pictures, then we will start to go down to Kayrawiri where our transportation will be waiting for us to bring us back to cusco again (5pm.).

    This trek really pushed my limits! The altitude and rugged paths were challenging, but reaching Rainbow Mountain made it all worthwhile. The sense of achievement was incredible. Just make sure to pack the right gear and give yourself time to acclimatize!
