Oh my gosh, this was so fun. Our group of diverse strangers really bonded - thanks to Darrio and Bendy (spelling?) - and we had a blast! We were wistfully saying how sad we were to say goodbye. The food was amazing. The hosts were informative and entertaining. This was an outstanding activity!

This cooking class was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Our guide, Dario, was absolutely amazing — knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about sharing authentic flavors from Guatemala. The traditional Guatemalan dishes we prepared were fresh, flavorful, and truly delicious, giving us a real taste of the local culture. As if the food wasn’t enough, the beautiful surrounding views made the experience even more special. Cooking, laughing, and sharing stories while overlooking such stunning scenery created the perfect atmosphere. By the end of the class, we not only enjoyed an incredible meal but also walked away with new friends and wonderful memories to cherish.

I would not recommend this activity. We were disappointed in our experience. This was the most expensive activity we did while in Guatemala, and I feel scammed. We were in a crowded downstairs space, each of us having a cutting board. My husband chopped some radishes and I chopped some onion, and that was the extent of our cooking experience. There were so many people, each with a small task and it was so crowded you couldn't see what was going on, or even hear an explanation of the cooking. There were no recipes or food instruction. Across the room a group was making some sort of tamale thing but I have no idea how they did it. At the end they squished us all into this small room with a bathroom attached and there weren't chairs for all of us, and we ate the food, which I didn't even enjoy. All around, not worth it at all. I'm wondering if maybe at one point this was a nice activity, but its turned into a money grab.

This class was definitely a highlight from my stay in Antigua! The ingredients are beautifully laid out when you arrive, the drinks provided were delicious, and the cooking was as hands-on as it gets. I had the best time getting to know the staff, practicing my Spanish (optional) and enjoyed eating the amazing food we cooked while appreciating the views of the city.

The experience and food was amazing with room for improvement: (1) The route to pick up group members could be improved to save time. (2) Despite the posting not listing this detail, they do in fact provide round trip transportation if you are coming from an approved location. (3) The most ideal class size is 10 people max. This would occupy everyone's time without leaving anyone out. Exceeding this number, like our class, can leave up to 5 or more strangers in a less than ideal position without any responsibilities for extended periods of time. The other chefs do in fact take over much of the more difficult cooking tasks in the end to ensure the food is cooked correctly. (4) While they do their best to explain the background of dishes, when it comes to receiving instructions on what to do knowing some basic Spanish phrases relevant to kitchen skills will go a long way. (5) Despite what other reviewers have stated, we were not promised and did not receive any of the recipes which I had looked forward to because the food was amazing. (6) You may end up sitting in direct sunlight for hours if you are in a large 10am class so come prepared with a hat, sunglasses, and/or sunscreen.

Highly recommend! We were picked up from our hotel and although there was traffic we got straight to work. Dario was an amazing chef and instructor and really made the experience. We made an appetizer, main dish, and dessert and squeezed in between we got to try local fruits.
