Mountain Avala

On this tour we offer unique experience on mountains Avala and Kosmaj, located just south of Belgrade! Once a watchtower over Belgrade and a mining site from 3rd century BC, Avala is today one of the favorite picnic destination of the Belgraders. It offers a great panoramic view of the surrounding landscape – Belgrade, Vojvodina and Šumadija. Our biking tour starts at the Avala’s top, making a round just beneath the Monument to the Unknown hero, one of Serbian symbols. Opened in 1938 it is a monumental complex designed by the famous sculptor Ivan Meštrović, on a place unknown Serbian World War I soldier was buried. Riding on the paved path, you will be enjoying the spectacular view. After that we make a descent through the pine forest to the Avala Tower. Standing at 204.8m, the Tower is the tallest building in the Balkans and a cafe at the top is a perfect break area.

We were picked up at our accommodation and had a friendly drive out of Belgrade into the countryside. Bikes were brand new, the route selection was suited to the riders ability and we had a great adventure. Weather turned bad as we nearer the top of Avala but we pressed on in the rain. Coffee at the top tasted all the better. Our guides were great company, very experienced cyclists and made us feel very relaxed throughout the 2 rides. We were then dropped off back at our accommodation. Would highly recommend this company as very friendly and professional offering great service, equipment and overall experience.

This is very nice bike tour, with visits to Avala and Kosmaj sights and beautiful nature along the way. Tour starts with descent from Avala, continues with relatively flat section with minor climbs and finishes with major climb on Kosmaj. Whole tour is around 50 km long and average biker can endure it, and if you can't there is a tracking vehicle for support. Summary: Pros: -Well organized -Good bikes -Very pleasant and friendly tour guys -Nice nature, beautiful sights, especially view from Avala tower -Very good condition of road all the way -Good food at the end of the tour in restaurant with domestic atmosphere Cons: -Car and truck traffic in a middle section of the tour can be annoying and tiresome at the moments. My recomendations for this bike tour!!!
