The Curragh Plains
The Curragh is perhaps the oldest and most extensive tract of semi-natural grassland in Europe, having existed as such for over two thousand years. It is possible the only landscape of its kind in the world consisting of a mainly unenclosed flat to gentle rolling plain of 4,870 acres. Following the the treaty of 1921, the lands passed from the Crown to the Minister for Finance and later to the Minister for Defence and is administered by his Department's property Management Branch under the Curragh of Kildare Acts.
Doolin Cave
The Great Stalactite! For 40 years after its chance discovery by British caving students in the early fifties, the cave was popular with visiting potholers who would regularly undertake the arduous crawl to view the Great Stalactite. The cave and the surrounding land was purchased by John and Helen Browne in the 1990’s. Over the decades, the family have proceeded with great determination to develop the cave into one of North Clare’s premier attractions and share its wonders with a wider audience. Due to the delicate nature of the stalactite, every care was taken during the cave development to ensure the minimum amount of environmental disturbance. The tunnels that were dug during the cave excavation were painstakingly done by hand, without the use of explosives. The cave was also enlarged to make it accessible to the public using the slow and laborious ‘plug and feather’ method of tunnelling. After a true labour of love, Doolin Cave opened to visitors in 2006
The Cliffs of Moher boat tour sets out from Doolin Pier and follows the cliffs along by sea to experience from below these stunning heights. For a start passengers will take in amazing views of the Cliffs of Moher, The Aran Islands, and The Burren all while boarding the ferry at Doolin Pier. After sailing for about 20 minutes or so the ferry will make a stop underneath the famous ‘O’Brien’s Tower’ perched high atop the Cliffs at their highest point. The Cliffs of Moher rise to a magnificent height of over 214 meters (700 ft) which you can really appreciate by sea. Here there will be an entertaining and informative expert on board commentary about the local history and wildlife. The Cliffs of Moher base is home to a diverse range of wildlife such as birds, basking sharks, dolphins, and seals. The ferry will then circle back by the Great Sea Stack ‘An Branán Mór’ which is home to Ireland’s largest mainland nesting bird colony.

Cliffs of Moher
One of Ireland’s favourite visitor experiences, the Cliffs of Moher tower over the rugged west Clare coast. Walk the safe, paved pathways and view the famous Cliffs on Europe’s western frontier and enjoy the spectacular vistas over the Atlantic Ocean and the Aran Islands. Their natural beauty has inspired artists, musicians, and poets for generations, as well as absorbing scientists and geologists, drawn by the unique landscape in which they sit. The Cliffs of Moher, the most famous cliffs in Ireland, will leave you awestruck, creating memories that will stay with you forever. The Cliffs of Moher host major colonies of nesting sea birds and are one of the country’s most important bird-breeding sites. The area has been designated a Special Protection Area (SPA) for Birds.

My experience was incredible! There was a minor issue with the weather, but James went above and beyond by giving me a personalized tour of Mullingar, a town I had always wanted to visit. James made the trip so enjoyable and unforgettable, capturing moments with photos I will treasure for the rest of my life. Highly recommended!

I cannot say enough great things about this tour and our guide, who happens to own the company, James. I expected a good tour and I got a trip that was beyond my imagination. James knows Ireland but more importantly loves Ireland and loves his work which you cannot help but notice in his boundless excitement in showing you the best, most beautiful parts of Ireland. He found us a golden day at the Cliffs of Moher, helped us find the best local restaurants, music and of course, the craic. We saw so much with James in just two days. Even a rainy Sunday was fun with a visit to the sheepdog trials, an old tomb site dating back thousands of years, a quick visit to Pat Cohans of The Quiet Man movie fame, a trip to Kylemore Abbey and then oysters in Clifden. James told us so much about the places we went and the places we passed on the way. (there are only 24 hours in a day unfortunately). Nothing was missed. If you want a once in a lifetime experience of this beautiful area of Ireland, and not just the average tour then you will love this trip. I will remember the weekend and James long after I leave. But I will also be back to see another part of Ireland with James. Slainte.

We had the best time with James! He quickly became a friend and since leaving we are still talking about James and all he showed us/taught us. He really makes the trip what you want it to be… we had a priority of finding somewhere to watch the Liverpool soccer game and not to worry, James made it happen! Seeing the west coast of Ireland was so beautiful and relaxing since we weren’t trying to navigate a new country and driving on opposite side. Was so nice to be in good hands! Thank you James!
