We have our rates low just to make sure we get with some great people and get outside. Our snowshoe experience is more rugged and adventurous than other treks on private ranches or hillsides near town. We take you (by permit) into the National Forest to capture amazing scenery and views. We also consider everyone's comfort level and tailor the experience to trails and distances that match your interest and ability. No prior snowshoeing experience is necessary. We got this!

What To Expect
We'll pick you up at your lodging, in one of our 4x4 vehicles, and transport you to the starting point. Then, we'll venture into the backcountry using snowshoes, trekking poles, and navigation equipment. As we traverse mountainsides we'll share stories, insights, and some local lure about the area. If we're trekking during the day we'll take in amazing views and scenery. If we're venturing at night we'll capture moonlit surroundings and serenity under the night sky. Either way, safety is a top priority. We stay away from risky avalanche zones, yet still bring along equipment and use local knowledge to stay safe. One of the best things about backcountry snowshoeing is the tranquility. We go places that are too level for skiers, and too wooded for snowmobilers. Often we're the only ones out there. Standing in a remote winter landscape, with a trickling stream and falling snow brings an image and feeling you wont forget.

5.00We had the best time snowshoeing with our guide CJ. He was friendly, super knowledgeable and took us in the backcountry where it was just us and nature. The trek was personalized to our skills and so much fun. This is a great workout and allows you to see areas of the Utah mountains you wouldn’t otherwise. CJ provided transportation from our accommodations, snacks and water. Do yourself a favor and book this adventure!

5.00This was the perfect snowshoe experience for me. We did a short hike into the Uinita National Forest. The scenery and views were amazing. We went at a pace that was good for me. 3 miles was perfect for me but we could have done less or hiked further. I enjoyed CJ's company and stories. Cj accomodated pickup/dropoff at my hotel. We only saw a few other people on the trail. I had a great time.

5.00What a great snowshoe day! We are locals to Park City, but wanted to try a fun new adventure. The snowshoe experience did not disappoint. CJ was well prepared with high quality gear, had great stories and was fun to learn from. The whole day was well organized from start to finish and all at our pace because it is a private tour. Beautiful scenery even for us locals. This is a great way to get away from the ski resort crowds, and truly enjoy a peaceful mountain experience. We'd definitely book this excursion again!

5.00My fiancé and I travelled to Utah to celebrate our anniversary (which turned into celebrating our engagement) and to attend a book convention, so we wanted to explore some more of the area. I was recommended to take a look at MTXutah and booked the snowshoeing experience. CJ picked us up from our hotel in SLC and took us up into the mountains, telling us about where we were as we passed through! We eventually made it to Tea Kettle Lake and trekked all the way around it. Once we finished with that, CJ took us to come overlooks, a frozen waterfall, and then we ended the day with Fizz! I HIGHLY recommend booking this experience. CJ made me and my fiancé feel safe and comfortable, provided water and snacks, and told us so many interesting facts. The views are unlike anything I’ve ever seen or experienced before, truly out of this world. The communication beforehand was very nice as well. CJ made sure we knew exactly what to wear, how long it was going to take us to get to our destination, and what the weather was going to be like. I originally wanted to do the moonlight snowshoeing experience, but he was upfront and honest with me by explaining that there would be no moon the week we were there and that he suggested we do a day hike. I really appreciated this! Two things that I made a mistake on, but that have nothing to do with the experience: 1) Bring sunglasses: though CJ brought some for us, bring your own because it gets bright! 2)Altitude: I’m from the Chicago area so the elevation got me really bad. Be sure to hydrate hydrate hydrate! Hiking that high up is no joke and you will pay for it if you aren’t ready. All in all, this was something that we’ll remember forever and is a must do if you ever visit the SLC or Park City area!
You can’t go wrong with CJ and MTX Utah!

5.00CJ did a fantastic job! He’s very knowledgeable about the area and enjoys sharing his love of Utah! He drove us into the Wasatch Mountains to a beautiful spot by a lake where we snowshoed. He took us to Bald Mountain Pass and the highest paved road in the State. We also appreciated all the great pics that he took! We highly recommend CJ and MTX Utah!

5.00CJ had a positive energy and engaged our son constantly. Knowledgeable about the natural environment and the human history of the land that only comes from a born and raised local guide. He made sure we were always comfortable and on the same page about what to expect next on the tour. CJs outdoor equipment and van was high quality and well maintained. You can tell this is a guy who loves his job, puts resources into his business, and really wants guests to experience the joy. Our family has taken tours in many states and countries. We have seen a spectrum of value with different tour companies and, with that in mind, MTXUtah is a very solid choice for your group.
