This isn’t your standard Sydney history tour.

It’s for anyone who’s ever asked, “Where are the women in the story of this city?” For travellers who want to step off the beaten path and discover a Sydney few ever see – but everyone should know.

Led by She Shapes History, you’ll walk from Macquarie Street to The Rocks, meeting the women who opened political doors, preserved heritage buildings, and built community in the city’s oldest streets – pub owners, nurses, writers, widows, and Chinese women who resisted, rebuilt, and reshaped Sydney in ways you’ve probably never heard about.

This tour was so enjoyable. Most of the 10 person group were Sydney locals lead by the totally engaging Kathryn. She had us all enthralled with her stories about these wonderful women from Sydney’s history as we walked from Hyde Park to The Rocks. Caroline Chisholm totally deserves a statue in a prominent location in Sydney. A highly enjoyable and worthwhile tour!!

Even if you think you know Sydney you should do this tour! Firstly it’s a lovely walk around the city and we walked parts that we have never done before. Then there’s the history talk along the way. Every story was fascinating and inspiring. Our guide Cat was very enthusiastic and her passion for history came through. Cannot recommend this tour highly enough - so enjoyable and interesting.

Very informative, full of details, stories from brave "we can do it" women in Sydney. You have to know the history, then you try to understand what is happening now. Highly recommending to this path to understand how women were doing that early Sydney ready for us modern feminists to visit, or even live in Sydney. Nursing, building, poltics and equal rights. Respect.

Fabulous walking tour. Kathryn was a wealth of information. The walking wasn't too taxing and I love that the historical information is emailed to you as a follow-up so your brain isn't overloaded during the walk.

A fantastic day out in my home city learning more about the wonderful women who shaped the city and whose stories have largely been lost or erased….or just not told. Wonderful storytelling by our Guide, Kathryn - very knowledgeable and engaging. Bring your friends and enjoy a morning out in the city and learn a lot!

I took my parents, my 76-year-old father has been raving ever since! The amazingly knowledgeable and absolutely delightful Kathryn led us on a morning of discovery through a part of Sydney I thought I was pretty knowledgeable about. Now I know there’s so much left to learn. You won’t regret going on this tour! Seriously, if my Dad loved it (despite not being overly enthused when I gifted it), essentially everybody will 😅

We're a Sydney based team of 8 ladies and we really enjoyed this tour of little known, amazing women in Sydney's history. Thank you Kathryn, your passion, knowledge and story telling was just fabulous. What a great tour! What a great way to see our great city!
