What To Expect

Hisma Desert

Spend a full day exploring the desert where history, wildlife, and adventure come together. The journey begins with an off-road drive through dramatic landscapes, followed by a visit to ancient sites where inscriptions in Thamudic, Nabatean, and Old Arabic can still be seen, offering a glimpse into the region’s rich past. The trip continues with a stop at a wildlife reserve, home to Arabian oryx, ostriches, sand gazelles, and camels, showcasing the diversity of desert life. Along the way, we’ll pause at scenic viewpoints, perfect for photos and quiet moments to take in the vast surroundings. A lunch box is included, giving you time to relax and enjoy the desert’s calm. The day ends with the highlight of the experience—a sunset over the open sands. As the sun drops below the horizon, the sky and dunes glow with shades of gold and red, creating a breathtaking finale to a day filled with history, nature, and adventure.

The Hisma desert is truly on another level. This wasn't just a tour; it was a masterclass in exploration. The highlight wasn’t just the breathtaking views, but the genuine hospitality, like sharing a hidden canyon lunch and coffee with local Saudis. A huge shoutout to our guide, Ahmed. A wonderful day. A tour through the rock formations of Hisma desert followed by a thrilling off road bash up the high dunes to a viewpoint. We saw many animals on our tour through the nature reserve. A delicious home cooked lunch in a secluded canyon with a surprise at the end! Back to the Hisma dunes for sunset at the highest point reached by any of the other vehicles. Delighted to be invited for coffee with some local Saudis. Back to Tabuk with Ahmed helping us with some essential shopping. Ahmed was a thoughtful and convivial host. Lots of information and laughs. Thoroughly recommended.
