Experience the raw, untamed beauty of Costa Rica with an authentic trekking adventure to the Vuelta del Cañón waterfall in Bajos del Toro. Your journey begins at a dairy farm, where your visit directly supports the local community and the preservation of their private natural reserve. As we leave the farm, we hike through stunning highland pastures that offer a unique vantage point nestled between the majestic Juan Castro Blanco and Poás Volcano National Parks.
This is a true naturalist’s expedition where your expert guide will reveal the secrets of the cloud forest, birds and wildlife hidden within the canopy. Be prepared for a genuine challenge; this "raw trekking" experience takes you through humid, muddy trails and requires crossing the creek several times, keeping you fully immersed in the elements. If you are looking for a rugged, off-the-beaten-path adventure that rewards your effort with one of the most breathtaking hidden waterfalls in the country, this is the tour for you.

What a waterfall!! This hike was the highlight of our whole vacation. There are no words to explain how beautiful everything was. Danielle and Isaac were great. They were very helpful and informative. We got all the answers about Costa Rica that we were wondering about. I would recommend this hike all day every day!! And make sure you swim in the waterfall!

Back to the Canyon is an unrivalled Fall. Junior, our guide to Toro Amarillo 360 Ecotours was excellent; he gave us clear details and suggestions, always looked after our safety and shared much knowledge of the ecosystem. It is definitely a tour I recommend doing.

My husband & I booked a hike to Vuelta del Cañon Waterfall with Isaac and it was one of the highlights of our trip to CR! Isaac was an incredible guide, very knowledgeable about Costa Rican culture, history, plants, and wildlife. You can tell he is truly passionate about what he does, and that passion made the experience so much richer. The hike itself was beautiful and adventurous, with a mix of muddy paths, rocky spots, and multiple river crossings. It’s not overly steep, but you do have to go up and down multiple rocky areas. We would call it mildly difficult and best for those in decent shape. The reward at the end is absolutely worth the effort! If you choose to do this hike, definitely invest in some water hiking shoes such as Keens, and high quality quick drying hiking pants & shirt. While you could technically do the trail on your own, going with Isaac turned it into a memorable, meaningful, and fun experience. Highly recommend!

The tour we had with Randy Lopez from Wild Path Tours was fantastic!! We are an active couple in our very late 60’s He’s a local guide, was very informative with birds, and sounds and just all the nature around us. The views and sounds of the waterfall were magnificent, swimming underneath the falls was a great experience. Lunch was wonderful also. We met one of the family members that owned the property.

My girlfriend and I visited Uvita to celebrate Easter this year. We had a great time right from the start of driving to the trailhead on CRs rough terrain. The hike was mild only about 1-2 miles total. I was not mentally prepared for the reward to this hike and it has left me in a state of despair as no other hike I have been on in the US compared to this. It was effectively paradise hidden in the hills of CR. From the crystal clear waters and powerful waterfall to the 10m high dive and home cooked meal at the falls, this was a memory that will forever remain with me for the rest of my days. Isaac was an excellent tour guide right from the get go. He is a great communicator and a very knowledgeable individual. I learned more from him in 5 hours about nature than I did from all of my science teachers in the entirety of my public education. He loves his home and made us fall in love with it too. Definitely a Pura Vida experience.

Words have no meaning to how well this adventure went! Isaac knew his stuff as a tour guide and then some! He was so easy to chat with and helped us out so much up and down the path! Thank you Isaac (and Katarina) for the adventure of a lifetime!!
