This was the highlight of our time in Northern Ireland. They were super accommodating when I realized I booked the tour for the wrong day. Michael and his daughter Katie were amazing hosts and taught us about Irish culture and music as well as the language. We heard wonderful Irish music played on a fiddle, guitar, banjo and the harp. We also learned some Irish dance moves. 10/10 tour. Highly recommend if ur anywhere near Ballycastle.

Experiencing live traditional music was one of the joys of my recent trip to Ireland. Top among the live music I heard was the Ballycastle Traditional Music Trail. Our talented guides Micheál and Catherine Sheanáin regaled us with folk tales, poetry, history, song, and lively traditional music backed by their expert playing of Irish flute, whistle, accordion, banjo, and guitar. The trail took us to three traditional pubs in downtown Ballycastle, each steeped in character and local history. At the House of McDonnell, Micheál and Catherine were joined by Marie Kinney, playing the uilleann pipes and teaching us a wee dance. The ease and charm of our hosts, along with their impressive musical talents, made for a truly memorable evening of authentic traditional Irish music, song, and dance. An absolutely magical evening!

This was a fantastic experience from start to finish! The hosts made us feel very welcome and included in the whole experience. I learnt so much about the history of Irish traditional music, dance and the instruments used by the musicians. There was the opportunity to sing along and to have a go at traditional dancing and I loved the poetry readings, especially when accompanied by the flute! I would highly recommend this experience to both locals and visitors alike.

Definitely a five star experience. We thoroughly enjoyed this unique journey of traditional Irish music. Our guides engaged the group throughout and treated us to stories, songs and traditional tunes in different bars in Ballycastle. We would recommend this trail to both visitors and locals and guarantee you will be tapping your feet, clapping along and giving it a 'hup' and maybe even be brave enough to learn a dance or two.
