Balthazar River ain't named Grenada’s Great River for nothing, as they say locally in Grenada. Fed from sources located deep in the island’s interior, this river is nestled between an exotic tropical rainforest. This adventure is nothing less than “a thrill of a lifetime!” Wet, wild and wonderful from the word GO, jump in the water and get ready for a journey alongside trained guides, as you spin and swirl in the currents of the river and soak up the exotic scenery of tropical vegetation and wildlife. 5.00This was a blast! We had a great time. All the guys on the river were fun. Instructions were clear and easy. The water was a bit low so we got hung up occasionally but they were always there to give you a push or a pull with a smile and a splash.

4.00Communication was poor. With two days to go I could not establish what time my partner and I were going to be collected from the port. Despite several messages I only got a reply 10 minutes before the pickup time. The minibus ride to the top of the mountain was like wacky races. The driver overtook everything even though we weren’t late and it is a hill climb with sharp hairpin turns and very uneven roads. I don’t normally get carsick but had to ask the driver to slow down. He did and then I was okay. The river tubing experience itself was excellent, safe, with safety helmet and vest provided. The staff were amazing and very friendly. Expect to get wet. One area they could improve is the ropes used to attach the base to the rubber tubes. You won’t even notice how much your arms are getting scraped for 45 mins until you get back to your ship and wonder how it happened. I would still recommend it. Maybe wear a long sleeved top to avoid rope burns on your forearms.

5.00Great fun. You arrive and get a life jacket and helmet. Pick up your tube and head down to the water. What an adventure. You go over multiple rapids. Takes about 1hr. Definitely not good for anyone with back or knee issues. You are bounced around a lot and get stuck on rocks. Would definitely do again.

5.00This was such tremendous fun! I’m 66 but felt just like a kid again. The trip was well organised with good instruction given before the tubes were put into the river; the team worked hard to make sure everyone had a great time. Give it a go!

5.00Fantastic experience! We were four, of whom two were a tad nervous, due to their lack of confidence in deep water. We needn’t have worried as the river is mainly two or three feet deep for the majority of the ride, and when it is deeper it get’s calmer. A real thrill, but the best thing about this experience is the guides, who are competent, great fun and make it very safe. If you go in for this, make sure you use Balthazar River Tubing. There are others but Balthazar are really good.

5.00What an awesome experience. I highly recommend it. We booked directly with Island Routes that included transportation. There were only another couple and us on the river along with our 2 guides so it was not crowded at all. It was perfect and we had a great time. The rapids were not super intense but intense enough that your heart was pumping on a few occasions. The guides had to work super hard to get the tubes going in the right direction. I can't imagine how this works with 40 people. So, having the river to ourselves was amazing!

4.00Although we were picked up half hour late. Sean our driver was great especially driving through the rain forrest in the rain. The River tubing was top draw, with assistance from the rain. The guys really were good at assisting all in the group. I did manage to fall out of the tube, but survived with just bruised shin. This is probably the best river tubing experience comparing Jamaica and Dominica.

5.00It was a thrilling experience! My girlfriend and I had a blast! Neither of us had ever done anything like this before and it was really worth it. We came to the island on board TUi Merella Discovery while on vocation in March from Barbados. The tour guides were kind, and pleasant to speak with. If anyone is interested in doing something while visiting the island of Grenada, I would highly recommend that you give these guys a try and also don't forget to walk with your go pro, you wouldn't want to miss capturing the ride down the river. I have to also mention that we booked this tour through the tui ship that we were on. The cruise ship docked in the island and by 9am we were being ushered into the waiting taxi vans at the port.
