A friend and I came to Canberra to see Illume at the Canberra Theatre. We opted for a matinee. The theatre was chockkers!! I was not expecting such a crowd at a matinee! But of course everyone knows what they will be getting in a performance from Bangara, so be it an evening show or matinee Bangara gave another performance of a lifetime! I have only seen five or six performances by Bangara Dance Company, all have been astonishingly unique, mezmerising, emotive and this performance did not disappoint. And yet it was very different to the past performances. Illume is a modern dance performance with familiar themes, told by dancers new to me; athletes who never missed a beat. A thousands movements made with precision. Staging wonderful!! Soundtrack was contemporary, thrilling... Don't miss it!

Absolutely amazing. The emotions and expressions of the movements entranced me and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. The use of props and mirrors were used tastefully and added another element of entertainment. My only regret is not getting up for a standing ovation.

Aboslutely beautiful and mesmerizing! It was my first time experiencing a show at the Opera House, and the dance crew did not disappoint. What an enthralling performance! I was hooked into the story from the very first to the last minute. Loved the beautiful dance moves and how the dancers were moving so fluidly as if they were water! Only thing I would suggest is to send an overview of the story beforehand to all the audience, because for many people (my parents, for example), it was difficult for them to understand what the story was and they couldn't just understand it from the dance itself. So the brochure we received at the venue should have been given digitally to us beforehand so we go into the theatre having an idea of the story and the different acts.
