This did exactly what we wanted - it got us a easy and convenient way to Montserrat without costing a lot of being to busy. We were able to explore at our own pace while keeping within key guided points of the tour. Round trip was about 9am until 330pm.

On our visit to Barcelona by cruise ship, we had originally booked an excursion to go inside the Sagrada La Familia and on the day before they canceled on us. I found an excursion on Viator to go to the Montserrat Monastery. We are so happy that it ended up this way, because we loved the visit here and would definitely return.

We had a lovely experience. Our tour guide Francisco was professional and knowledgeable. Make sure to see the Black Madonna. It was a great experience. Such a special and beautiful place to visit. Bring cash for the outdoor market. I was able to buy honey in a jar.

Great tour worth doing. The site and scenery are spectacular and definitely worth seeing. The tour itself was well run, everything was on time, comfortable bus, tour guide Marc was very good.

Montserrat is a lovely place to visit. The funicular was wild- worth taking up and doing the walk down. Only scary moment was when our tour almost left without us. Our guide, Francesco, told us told come back at 1:55pm then he said 2pm latest because bus leaves at 2:05pm. We were buying something at the little marketplace (close to bus area) but the vendor ran out of small euros so it took a little longer than we hoped to get our change back. We made it to the meeting spot by 1:58pm but saw no one. Luckily Francesco happened to get off our bus to check something so we saw him. He was shocked when he saw us. He said “I already counted 50 people!” which he clearly did not because 2 of us were not on the bus. He also interacted with the 2 of us several times during the trip so should have realized we were not on the bus (we were the only 2 South Asians on the bus). We should have realized he was not a good guide from the get go. At the 9am check in, he just stood there blending in with all the tourists so no one really knew who to check in with. He was not wearing anything that would even identify him. Also when we got to the monastery, we had less than 10 min to look inside and take pictures because they were starting mass. He knew the timing because after we got off the bus and he told us we should use the bathrooms in that area, we walked up to the monastery and he said “We’ll look around outside later, they will close soon so go inside quickly,” We had to rush inside and take a few quick pictures. Very annoying. If you take this trip, hopefully you get a better guide who uses a passenger check list and wears identifiable clothing (or uses an umbrella/stick with toy like other guides) so you can find them.
