What To Expect

The Clyde estuary system has become part of a much larger story due to the success of the Australias Oyster Coast initiative. This kayak tour starts with introduction of the equipment and paddle practice, prior to slipping onto the calm smooth waters of the Clyde river. In no time you will become part of the successful story that is oyster farming on the Clyde river, Batemans Bays largest estuary system. You'll first paddle to the Oyster Shed on Wray Street where local operators will give informative farming talks, tastings and offer oysters by the dozen for sale. The tour then continues on, kayaking through working oyster farms and packing sheds all within easy floating distance of you starting location at the Batemans Bay bridge. Oysters are offered for sale on this experience. You can load as many dozen as you wish in your stable double sea kayak.

Relaxed but professional. Guides were fully engaged, Including jade from the oyster shack, who knew oyster farming was so interesting. Much more involved in the tour than we expected, recommend to anyone.

What a fantastic activity in a spectacular location. Mike was so knowledgeable and we had the best time in the water learning about oyster farming techniques and seeing the processes they go through over the years before they’re ready to sell. We had such a great time we have booked a half day trip when we come back in a few months.

Tour is oversold. Oyster tasting? I expected to be eating dozens, different types, prepped different ways. We actually got three - 3 - three. Kayaking was ok - across the bay and back. Our guide (Mike) was great and stuff about oysters was interesting. But no way worth what they charge.

  • So Fun!!!

Wonderful to see a local company showcasing all the natural wonders of the south coast of NSW. Mike expertly led 8 canoes on a tour of the oyster leases of the Clyde on a beautiful Autumn day. Jade from Farmgate Oysters gave us Pacific and Sydney Rock oysters to taste and regaled us with tales of being a 6th Gen oyster farmers daughter. I will never complain about the price of oysters again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our oyster and kayaking tour. Joshua was our fantastic, knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. Joshua provided great communication, he kept us informed regarding the weather and water conditions and after the tour the next day with photos that Joshua had taken along the way. The whole tour is very well run, the oyster tastings were amazing, we learnt about the life of an oyster/ farming. We enjoyed kayaking along the Clyde river with perfect water conditions providing us a tranquil experience.

  • So glad we did this!
