The opportunity to experience a tour of a lifetime.

Understanding Belfast's troubled history with a honestly presented political tour by Republican and Loyalist ex-political prisoners. Discover a side of Belfast you won't find in the Tourist books, We invite you to walk the streets of the city on both sides of the Peace Wall with the men and women who have served time in prisons of Northern Ireland for standing up for their beliefs. Republican and Loyalist ex-prisoners will share their own personal stories and the effects on their communities and explain the murals that tell the local history and culture of each area. The only tour to give you two truly opposing views of 'The Troubles' through the streets of West Belfast. A portion of the tours proceeds goes to working with local children in cross community projects.

A very informative and educational tour. Our tour guide Paul was amazing. Wear comfortable footwear its a 3 hour walking tour. Good value for money

  • Exellent , walking is much better than zooming around

Very good. This gives both sides of the story, much better tgan zooming around in a taxi. You'll never get a feel for the place in a cab. Walking and experiencing the ara for three hours is the best option. Healthier and far cheaper as well.

  • Conflicting stories that aren’t sugar coated

Fully recommend this to get a full understanding of what the troubles meant but mostly still how it manifests itself in daily life today. Really fascinating to hear there’s still so much distrust between the neighbourhoods of the Falls and Shankill. The two guides were excellent and ‘conflicting stories’ is the right description. Not sugar coated and made it so much better. Best compliment was that my partner and I were still debating things we’d heard hours later in the bars.

  • Excellent tour

Very interesting and informative tour, spoken from the heart, from both sides of the wall. The speakers from IRA and UDF expressed a commitment to peace, after giving a personal account of the terrible atrocities that took place historically. I was left with the impression that wounds are starting to heal, the peace wall is symbolic of this. Excellent tour.

  • A perfect alternative for those not interested in automobile based tours.

Simple exceptional tour from those who lived through (and were part of) the troubles. Also unlike the cab tours that had been recommended to me many times, this tour doesn't rely on polluting automobiles. Robert on the fall street side, in particular, was exceptional. Both gave the real life perspective of horrible events as they experienced them. While the stories were conflicting in many ways, it is heartening to hear the consensus from both sides that the pain inflicted was so severe that they would prefer to disagree but live in peace.

  • Great peace project

Robert was absolutely amazing- properly informed on the history and the struggles of all the people in tbe North of Ireland. His half of the talk championed messages of hope and solidarity really needed in this current climate. Thoroughly enjoyed

Unfortunately due to time constraints I could only attend the first half of this tour. But the 90mins with Paedar Whelan as our guide was one of the best walking tours I have ever been on (and I have been on over thirty different walking tours in the last 15 years). Paedar is the perfect guide. He spent 16 years as a political prisoner and is so knowledgeable about the history of Ireland. He knew Bobby Sands. He is also hilarious. Go on this tour, you will be glad you did. Thank you Paedar!

  • A Must-Do when in Belfast

This was such a unique and fascinating experience. The two guides were knowledgeable and gave good insights into all sides of the conflict from their direct experience. Although booked through Yellow Umbrella, the tour was actually executed by a well-known group in Belfast providing political tours, Coiste Political Tours, who work with great guides and are very experienced in this work.

This was a fascinating experience, being able to hear both sides of the conflict was very sobering and at times challenging. A must do for anyone who wants to understand the history of Northern Ireland. Peadar and Jake were excellent guides.
