What To Expect

1

Kalemegdan Park and Belgrade Fortress

Your trip will begin with pick up from your hotel/accommodation in Belgrade. We’ll not stay in the vehicle for a long time since our first stop is Kalemegdan, the oldest and largest park in the city center, and the magnificent Belgrade Fortress. Starting from Leopold’s Gate, we will pass by the remains of the Roman castrum – Singidunum and the medieval walls built upon it – Zindan Gate, Despot’s Gate, Jakšića Tower, all dating back to the 15th century. We will visit two Orthodox churches in this part of the fortress: The Chapel of St Petka and Ružica Church (Virgin Mary Church). Entering the Upper town (Gornji grad), we will see the magnificent sight of the confluence of two rivers: the Sava and the Danube.

Pobednik

We will continue our walk through the Upper town: the Victor monument by world-renowned sculptor Ivan Meštrovic, one of Belgrade’s landmarks, the Roman well, the King’s gate, and the Sava promenade, the Damat Ali Pasha Tomb, Clock Gate, and Clock Tower. Passing by Military Museum and through Istanbul’s gate, we will leave the fortress behind us, entering Kalemegdan Park again. There is a Monument of Gratitude to France by Ivan Meštrovic in the park and many busts representing the famous Serbian man of letters. Here we’ll enter the vehicle again and continue with our tour.

Belgrade is a mixture of history and the new rolled up into one. The old is to see and understand whilst the new is to indulge in. A city within a city is what Belgrade depicts and it is easily got around using free trams, trolley buses and buses.

This is a really thorough and informative look at the sights and history of Belgrade and Serbia. Our guide Aleksandar has a wealth of knowledge and shared it in a great way. Lots of interesting details as we visited each area. The fortress, and the town of Zemun were highlights for me.

Lack of correct information from and between Viator, Victor Travels and us. We were told no more than 8 people ( there were 12). Late pickup, no audio device so it was hard to hear guide. Guide, although pleasant, did not bother to look back at group walking and seemed to just want to get through the tour. Van had small and clouded windows so we could not see what the guide, who could see, pointed out. Unfortunately worthless. It was disappointing.

  • Outstanding guide and relaxing itinerary

Ivana is outstanding, told us the history of Serbia and culture. Very accommodating to everyone’s needs. The itinerary is lovely, but perhaps novi sad is a bit too long to be left alone and roam on our own as there isn’t much to see or do (town center is quite small)

Absolutely brilliant excursion. It was so informative and interesting. Alexander brought it to life and was so kind, friendly and professional. There was only 3 of us on the tour and it states 2 hours and maybe a little more but we were shown and told about the sites and history from 11am until 3:30pm so definitely above and beyond. Highly recommend this tour and Alexander if you get the honour. 5 🌟

While traveling with family, we only had three days in Belgrade, and this tour was perfect. It went in depth about rich history, rich culture, and they recomended the best place for lunch. Our guide was very knowledgeable, accomodating, even though in a group where there was a nine year old & us older people. It was just right, the moving from site to site was well timed. I am from the area and I was very proud of the tour and how well it was put together. Highly recomended, thank you Aleksandar.
