Go underground on a 1-hour walking history tour through Seattle's original neighborhood. Our experienced guides lead small groups through, and beneath, Pioneer Square to the street level that existed in the 1890s. Explore underground pathways that were built more than 120 years ago, learning details on early Seattle history, why these spaces were built, and how they have been used (and misused) over the years. Marvel at how this once Indian encampment has since transformed into one of the 20 largest cities in the United States.

Beneath the Streets
Beneath the Streets focuses on factual, historical information that details the birth of our city, 1890’s architecture, and several other stories including the Klondike Gold Rush, Skid Row, and the Coast Salish Peoples that first inhabited the area. Our tour guides participate in workshops on cultural traditions and history with special guest historians and Native Tribal members as continual professional development.
Pioneer Square
We cover four city blocks of historic Pioneer Square and explore three underground passageways originally constructed in the 1890's. You'll see and hear the history of the neighborhood from both the original and current street levels.

We dutifully followed the instructions mailed to us, went to the Four Seasons Hotel, and waited inter the (light) blue awning, as directed. We were 30 min early, and stayed until after the tour should have begun. I called the phone number provided but no one answered. We finally left. If I could have rated it zero I would have. Bleh! Don’t sign up!

The history of Seattle was extremely interesting and how people are motivated by money. Our tour guide’s knowledge and animation made the tour more interesting. We loved it.

There was clearly a handicap individual in the group and Dave walked excessively fast while many people struggled to keep up, often leaving us in the dust and unable to see where he went. (There was advertising that this was a handicap accessible tour and we provided ample notice.) He spoke to much about his personal political views, did not fully answer my question and was not a clear communicator of what history we were seeing. Wish I had done something else on my trip here. Myself and my family felt frustrated in the end. Even another person from another family made a similar comment about how inconsiderate he was.

Really good tour and Sara was a good guide. Interesting for history buffs. The tour requires a bit of walking so be prepared especially if wet outside.
