Go underground on a 1-hour walking history tour through Seattle's original neighborhood. Our experienced guides lead small groups through, and beneath, Pioneer Square to the street level that existed in the 1890s. Explore underground pathways that were built more than 120 years ago, learning details on early Seattle history, why these spaces were built, and how they have been used (and misused) over the years. Marvel at how this once Indian encampment has since transformed into one of the 20 largest cities in the United States.

Beneath the Streets focuses on factual, historical information that details the birth of our city, 1890’s architecture, and several other stories including the Klondike Gold Rush, Skid Row, and the Coast Salish Peoples that first inhabited the area. Our tour guides participate in workshops on cultural traditions and history with special guest historians and Native Tribal members as continual professional development.

Very interesting and guide was very entertaining. Recommend. It’s only about an hour tour so doesn’t take up the whole day.

It was a fun and informative tour. Didn’t know the history of Seattle and its underground communities.

Our guide, Mark, was not a competent guide. He thought he was funny. He was not; neither I or any one else laughed at what he thought were jokes. His commentary was off handed and not well organized. A guide should tell a story. Mark made disconnected comments often referring to other places he had been a guide rather than the place we were visiting. I personally found him offensive and sort of icky and chose to remain near the back of the group. The information he gave was generally accurate, but could have been more informative if it had been better organized and meaningful if presented in paragraph form. I have been on another underground tour before, but I would not recommend this tour.
