What To Expect
Upon arrival at the reserve, you’ll be welcomed by your guide and game ranger, who will then take you on an open-air safari vehicle for your game drive. As you explore, you’ll hear fascinating stories about the ‘Big Five’ – African elephants, Cape buffalo, lions, leopards, and rhinos – and how they earned their names. Keep an eye out for these magnificent creatures, as well as giraffes, hippos, and many other species. The reserve is also renowned for its birdlife, boasting over 170 species, including the endangered Black Eagle, from which the reserve derives its name.

The drive to Aquila was smooth and the scenery along the way was stunning. The safari was amazing we saw elephants, lions,giraffes, and zebras. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Western Cape.

5.00Great experience. The driver was friendly, the vehicle was clean. The air conditioning worked. He allowed us to play our own music on the drive. We were a small group of 3. Our ride was two hours to Aquila and two hours back (total, 4 hours driving). The fee was pretty pricey. However, I would say this is best for those two would like to avoid waiting on and riding with other parties at 5am and after a long day. We were able up comfortably nap during the ride. Would recommend.
